~ 3 Years ~

        DsDesigns3years.gif picture by 55hockeyfan

Evening!  It's hard to believe it's been 3 years since I started this journal.  Ok, 3 years and one day.  So much has changed from that day, and so much has stayed the same.  I never thought I'd keep with it.  I figured I would write a bit and then stop.  Who'd be interested in what I had to say or share?

Back in the day it was bit different and there didn't seem to be so much hate, so much trouble, so much jealousy (if that's what you can call it), but the community grew and just like life, like the world, it takes all kinds to make things go around.  I've had my share of the bad and ugly, and in a round about way it was good.  It brought me closer to some, weeded out some, and showed true colors of many.

So many of you have been around a very long time.  Some are new comers.  I appreciate you all.   My life has not been an open book per say but I've shared many a things and you all stood by me.  Sent words of hope and friendship, hugs and strength, smiles and yes some tears.  You've given good advise and again, I appreciate all of it.  There were rocky times with a few, but we worked through the difficult times and our friendship grew stronger.  Some walked away, and yes, I walked away too.  It's what life is about.  It's unrealistic to think we will get along with everyone, to build foundations to grow on.  Reality is we know when to walk away and when to work to fix it.   I've heard many a times that people on the Internet are fake.  Well, not always.  Yes, there are some that want you to believe only to turn and show those true colors and they are colors we'd rather not see, but I've found true friendship too.  Friendship that will stay with me forever.  I won't name names because I'd forget someone...  but you know who you are.  If you're still reading this you're probably one that would be on my list :)  I say probably only because I know my 'bad and ugly' still visits.   That, I fear, will never change, but so be it.   A good friend told me they visit because their life is so miserable and so sad they live through me.  I laughed and thought how funny, but there is something to that.  Why else would someone spend so much time reading and storing my words?

I've changed over the three years.  Life taught some valuable lessons.  Showed me love, showed me sadness, and you stayed with me.  Thank you.   My journal has changed to.  I may not write the inner secrets of my being, but I think a lot of time my pictures and graphics do the talking for me.   Never in a million years did I think I would become so addicted to the graphics, then my picture taking.   Your input over the course of these past few years helped me improve, grow, and enjoy it more and more.  Thank you!

I took the picture of the table just to do it.  My initial thought was to show the weather, the numerous days of rain of late.  But today, I looked at that table and thought how lonely and sad.  Just sitting there empty, much like some folks life.  I looked at it again and thought how cool would it be to sit at that table and share a laugh, a smile, a story.  Out of the rain of course ::grin::  So to all my friends I want you to know there is a spot at that table for you, and I thank you so very much for joining me.

Hope everyone is doing well.  I really don't have anything to say.  LOL  Yeap, you heard that right.  The weather has been pretty shitty here.  One day it's hot and humid, the next day chilly and rain.  Last night a storm whipped through here and dumped golf ball size hail.  It's freaking the middle of June!!  My house only had rain, thank God, but there are damage reports all over.  Today it started out ok, but it is only 56 degrees right now and it is raining again.  WTF!?!  Who wants to argue Global Warming?  Mother Nature has been on a tear and giving every area wild weather.  The price of gas here is $4.24.  So not only will prices go up because of the cost to ship things, fresh fruits and veggies will go up because the weather is ruining crops left and right.

I was cleaning up some photo folders and forgot about this frog from when I was up at the camp.  Ok, so is it a frog or a toad?  I never know the difference.  I'm sure I've been told a gazillion times but I can't remember.  Either way I loved the detail in the shot.

All has been quiet on the work front.  The ax didn't fall again, and at this point I don't think it will.  No more malicious jokes, or whatever you'd call it.  I call it hateful.  I am just stunned that grown adults would act in such a manner.   I'm far from perfect, but I have done nothing to anyone to deserve that.  Karma is wonderful thing though and I have no doubt they will be repaid somehow ten fold.  Things have a funny way of working out that way.

Father's Day was great!  Thanks for all the nice comments and notes about my parents.  It's wonderful to see the love.  They give it to all of us, as well as others, but to see it in their eyes makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.  Dad is doing good.  He is still a bit slow getting around but that is more the Parkinson's then the healing from the broken hip.   I loved these pictures of my nephew and his girlfriend.  They are so cute together, and can be so silly!  'Who's that kissing me?'  ::giggle::

Well my day is about over......   wishing everyone a happy 'hump day'

I took a ton of pictures today, more then I even thought.  I decided these say it all.  The day was fantastic, full of family, good friends, and great food.  The storm is rolling in now so I will leave it at that and shut down the computer.  Hope everyone had a good day full of love, happiness, and/or good memories.

~ This & That ~

DsDesignsMoon.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

I went to bed Thursday with the windows wide open and the fans blowing.  It was warm and they were calling for the temperature to rise during the night.   I don't know what time it was but I woke from a sound sleep.  No idea why, but decided to go to the restroom while I was up.  As I walked in to the bathroom this is what greeted me through the window.  I did my business, then of course went and got my camera to get a picture.  Yeap, I lifted the screen and took the shot right out the window.  I left it on the camera and went back to bed.

Ohhhhhh....  my alarm goes off and I rub my eyes.  Friday the 13th.  I'm generally not superstitious when it comes to the date.  When it comes to my boys yes, but not the date, not black cats, none of that.   I get ready and go into work.  I am not in the office 30 minutes and my boss asks for me to write him an email going over what happened the day before.  And, yes, I did look in my chair before I sat down!  He is still angry over the whole thing.  He, like I, did not think it an accident or a joke.  Someone did it maliciously.   I did what he asked, but also asked him not to make a big deal out of it.  He agreed, but wanted it documented.  In the next couple of hours I had 5 or 6 people come to me to see how things were and then gave their opinion on who they thought it was.  These are people from all different departments, all different interests, and not necessarily people that would talk about the incident amongst themselves.  Ironically enough, they all said the same person.  Kind of funny as it was the same person I suspected.  Nothing can be proved, and I'd never tell anyone who I thought, but found it very interesting they thought the same thing.

It was hot and humid out and about 11ish I decided to walk away and get some air.  On the way I ran into my boss who was doing the same thing.  We stepped outside together and chatted a bit about the morning and what was in store for the weekend.  We laughed at some jokes and we both started to relax and feel refreshed so in we came.  It was then I was informed that 2 people had gotten fired.  Not laid off, but fired.  Neither was the person suspected of the nasty deed, but apparently it was for just cause.   Rumors flew around, as in any office, of the reasons why.  The disturbing part was that they were not done.  :::sigh:::  Turns out they were done, for the day anyway, but you could feel the tension in the office all day.   I wonder if they are done, or if next week will hold more changes.

It was close 90 degrees when I got home.  I planned on having a bite to eat and then going to my parents for a swim.  When I walked in the door and turned on the TV I learned Tim Russert had passed away.  He was born in Buffalo, and was/is a darling of the city.  You may remember his regular cheers for the Buffalo Bills during his reports.  He was one helluva reporter and will be missed by so many.  My condolences go out to his family and friends.  Anyway, I got comfy on the couch and started listening to the various reports.  Tears came to my eyes a few times.  Apparently he collapsed at work and died at the hospital.

As I sat there the wind picked up, the sky turned dark.  Before I could get to the windows the rains came.  It came hard and furious.  You could barely see the woods in my backyard.  The lightening and thunder rolled in too.  When I was done closing the windows I grabbed my camera and took a video off the back patio.  I was under cover, but the wind blew the rains in.  The furious rains didn't last that long but I took the video of what was still happening.  You can hear the thunder, and at times see the lightening.  It no way compares to what the west got, but it did storm.  So much for that swim.  I came back in and laid on my bed as the cooler air blew over me.  The back windows were closed almost tight, but the fans sucked in enough of the cool air to make the back of the house comfy.  Almost as though I had air conditioning.   As the storm started to end, I thought I'd lay there for a few more minutes and then get up and turn on the PC.   LMAO..... it was 12:15 when I woke up.  I changed into jammies, turned off the light, and went back to bed.  I guess the emotions of the day got to me more then I thought.

Today it's just about 70, the sun is peeking in and out, and the rain is off and on.  I'm doing laundry and just being a lazy ass.  I will head to the store a bit later and get snacks etc for tomorrow.  They are calling for temps in the 80s so we will celebrate father's day at my parents.  It's good to have a pool!!   I want to wish all the Father's out there a wonderful day... for those Mom's who have dual rolls... I wish you a great day too!

~ Sneaky Ba$tard ~

DsDesignsSneaky.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

I found this sneaky little guy on my small bird feeder.  He shimmies' up the thin metal of the Shepard's hook and jumps to the landing.  He thinks it is his meal ticket for sure and sits there for hours chomping away.  He's even taught the squirrels how to get up there.  Ohhhh I can be sneaky too.  I will be going to get one of those guards that look similar to an umbrella to put on the bar so they can only get so far.   I know they have to eat too, but cripes they don't stop!!

I was accused of being a 'sneaky bastard' because I included a tag request in an entry and someone missed it.  Oh well.... no offense, but read all entries and that won't happen.  If you don't have time to do so, don't come crying to me name calling.  I am not obligated to highlight a tag request in the subject line, and must again say I do this fun.  Will say it was nice to see who actually comes to the journal for my journal and who comes only to get tags.  Not saying that is a bad thing, just saying it was interesting and then pretty hurtful to be called names based on a missed tag.

Today at work proved to be interesting as well.  I sat down to turn on my PC etc, and then got up to get a cup of tea.  On my way back to my desk my hand brushed my ass for whatever reason, I think I was fixing my top.  Anyway, I felt something on my pants.  It was on my hand and was blue.  'What the hell' I thought.  I went to the ladies room, washed my hands and tried to get it off my pants.  It smelled like toothpaste.  Now how the hell????  So I get back to my desk and there on my chair is globs of toothpaste.  It was on the back and on the seat.  Why would someone be standing over my chair putting toothpaste on their tooth brush?  It's not like I'm close to the bathroom or any sink for that matter.   I'd like to think I work with mature adults and it was an accident, but I don't think so it's a bit weird.  Someone was showing me some love.  How freaking bizarre....   but I've told you before some folks think I'm a bitch.  I just wish I knew what I did to deserve that.  Needless to say the toothpaste must have had some whitening agent in it as I know have a bleached out spot on my pants.  Greeeeeeeeat!!

So ... how is everyone else?  As you can see my day was full of absolute nonsense and sneaky antics... but I am good.  Temps cooled down a bit and are more seasonal.  Blue sky, warm breezes, and no humidity.  I watched the NHL awards tonight and want to give a shout out for all the winners.   Most of all I want to say congrats to Patrick Kane for getting rookie of the year.  You may remember when I highlighted him last year when he was the number 1 draft pick.  Local boy makes good.   My Dad knows his grandpa, and he is from the area.  I got tears in my eyes when he saluted his grandfather at the end of his speech.  'For my grandfather, this award is for you.'   His grandfather has been ill and couldn't make the trip to Toronto.   Congrats Pat...  well deserved!!!

Well... it's that magical time.   Hope everyone has a great Friday!   Don't worry I will be more careful when I sit down these days.  LOL

~ Old Friends ~

DsDesignsOldFriendssandra.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

'Old friends are like antiques, they are to be treasured.'  Such a great statement and how very true.   Today I talked to an old friend.  A great one.  One that I've missed beyond belief.  She contacted me after my sister passed.  We talked and then who knows what happened.  Life I guess.  Then my Dad and his hip, phones going unanswered, opposite schedules....  all shitty ass excuses I know.  This past week she was front and center.  We use to go hear Paul Pope together, and with him being in town I tried to contact her.  I emailed, called, left messages, etc.  Today she called back and left me a message, and when I got home from work I called.  We talked a bit...  it was wonderful.

We all do stupid shit at sometime in our lives, and sometimes you can't fix it the way you want or should, even if you want to.   I won't go into details but that is basically what happened.  Years went by before we did hook up again.  My son was little.  We tried and did stay in touch, went on vacation together.  Then life got in the way.  She relocated to Florida.  I hated it, but knew she had to.   We tried to stay in touch and hell if I know what happened but we lost contact again.  Then the email after my sister passed.  The phone call, the tears.

When we talked today we promised not to let years go by.  Life is so short why do we let those we care about slip away from our everyday lives?  People come and go, promises made and broken.  Today I was lucky enough to make contact, and you can rest assured I will not let it slip away again.  I'm not perfect but I will be trying my best to get this relationship, friendship, back on track.  I really have missed her.

Do you have a friend you lost contact with?  Can I just say, take the step.  Don't let weeks, months, years go by.  Make the time.  Take the time.  If you care about the person, truly care, it only takes a second.  Drop a line, make a call.  Something.  Don't make shitty ass excuses as to why you can't be around.   The more excuses you make the harder it becomes, and trust me you look foolish.  I know,  I looked in the mirror today.

Yes, I will tag the graphic if you want.  Leave a comment with the name.  It will expire on 6-12 at noon EST.

~ 89 ~

DsDesignsPoolParadise6-9-08.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

Yeap, 89 degrees today, so where do you think we all went?  Uh huh....  Grandma and Grump's.  That built in pool is one helluva place to be on a hot humid day :)  How much nicer it would have been if I was off today!

Funny conversation with Bug as we sat on the deck as she ate her pudding.  She had a chocolate face and I wanted a picture.  I took it and she came running to see it.  'Ya know Bug, you're beautiful even with chocolate on your face.  I need to find a place to send your pictures so you can model and make lots of money.'  She smiled and ran off to finish her pudding.  A few minutes later there she was 'Aunt Donna' in her sweet voice.  Posing up a storm.  It was hoot.  Love the head shot in the collage.  Perfect Bug!   After about 5 pictures, she runs over to me, 'lets see'.   I scroll through them as she looks and smiles.  'Am I making lots of money?'   To freakin cute!!  When they were leaving I gave her and her brother $1 each.  She was thrilled... but asked for another one.  I told her I didn't have any more, 'what about quarters?' she asks.  I thought to myself I'm going to go broke if I have to pay her for pictures.  LOL

Well, it's late and I'm tired.  Hope everyone had a great Monday....   I know alerts were bonkers today so I will go through the requests tomorrow and get them done.  I got nothing but blanks so I will have to send them from the alert themselves.  If it's 90 again, well, it might be another day... sorry... but you will get them.

~ A Blast from the Past ~

DsDesignsPaulPope.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

I saw Paul Pope for the first time 30 years ago, give or take.  I was immediately drawn into his music, even though it was his own and I'd never heard any of it before.  His energy, sense of humor, good looks, and nice ass didn't hurt either.  Back in the day he did do some makeup, white face and black stars around his eyes.  That's probably one of the trademarks that didn't stick around.  Oh, that and the long hair.  His two different high top converse sneakers can still be seen when he performs, his goofy jokes, the innuendos, and of course the Big Mac.  Ok, it's been along time since I've witnessed the Big Mac, but he did do it last night.  I grabbed video and have it posted here for all to see.  LMAO!!  Some just might not get it, and to be honest I can't explain it so don't ask.  It's part of my past.... and well present now I guess.

The party yesterday was a blast!  The faces of people I haven't seen in years.  The stories and laughs.  It was a much simpler time back in those days, for the most part not a care in the world, other then having a good time.  Then responsibilities snuck in.  Who said they could?  Last night for a few hours it was about 'the good time.'  At the end of the night we talked about a road trip to Ohio to hear him again over the summer.  With any luck Billy (formally known as Willie), will be playing out too.  He has his own band as well.  I don't know how much either of them play out anymore, those responsibilities, ya know?

DsDesignsBillySullivan.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

This first video is a bit long, so much so that I had to cut off the beginning and end so I could upload.  No place wanted to give me more then 10 minutes and this was a bit over a 11.  GRRRRRRRR  I really wanted to cut out the part where someone walked in front of me and the proceeded to knock into me and I got a lovely shot of the roof.  LOL  That wasn't happening.  Talk about pulling my hair out, but I was finally able to get it.   I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it, I hope you'll at least give it a try.

Untitled by Paul Pope

One day he went walking to see what he could find

He went out all alone and left his things behind

He saw his love in the center of his mind

And then he looked and saw a friend of mine

Chorus

Did you know I love?

Did you know I love?

Did you know I love?

Did you know I love?

Did you know I love?

Did you know I love?

The dream

A little feebly fly

Do you wonder why?

Why each day differs when people pass you by

Is the light to strong?

Is there something wrong that changes? Yeah

But it's too long

It's a change of things.  It's a change of things

It's a change of things.  It's a change of things

Little speckled kitty have you fried your brain?

Have you gone insane?

It's a reaction chain

Has time collapsed on me?

Won't you try to see the changes, yeah for you and me

And then he looked, his friends they passed him by

His friends below him just reached up towards the sky

And now his world came swiftly to an end

The he whispered 'good bye' to all his friends

Chorus

Then he looked a tear ran down his face

His friends below him just seemed to trace

How love has wondered and won the race

And now he's gone to the greatest place

Chorus

Midnight Moses is another one of his songs, I love how the crowd gets into it.  They always have and always will.  ::evil grin::  Just forgive the couple that decided they didn't give a shit that I was taping the song and pushed their way right in front of me.  GRRRRRR

Now, last but not least is the Big Mac.  Like I said I can't explain it.  One thing that is different I don't remember him having to soak the 'mac' with beer before hand.  Must be an age thing.  LOL

Been a pretty slow day here...  recovery takes a bit longer then back in the day.  Hope everyone is having a great weekend.... or is it had?

~ Flippin Hot ~

This morning as I sit here at the computer I have the window open, wide open!  The curtains pulled back and I feel a lovely breeze.  The sky is blue and dotted with a few cotton candy clouds.  The leaves are dancing with each other and enjoying the prefect morning.   Once again they are calling for a hot day, but the humidity is suppose to be a bit less.

I hope so, I have an outdoor party to go to today.   In my late teens early 20's, before my son, Stephan, was even a glint in my eye, I went to a local bar.   They had bands play on certain nights each week, and I was, well a groupie to a few.  LOL Paul Pope came on the scene after his days with Molkie Cole, and I wouldn't miss his show.  Every Thursday night at the bar on the corner of my street.  That went on for years and years.  I moved away, got married, had my son, and he still visited the WNY area even though he was from Cleveland, OH.  When I moved home he still made visits and I would find a babysitter and go.  We all got older and life has changed us in so many ways, but every now and again he'd visit.  It was a reunion in itself.  Well today the bar is having a reunion and Paul Pope will be playing.  Think I'd miss it?  Not on your life!!!  My son has to work until 7 pm, but is hoping to stop by after.  Not that he'd know anyone but family at the bar reunion (the bar has been closed for some 20 odd years), he wants to see the band his mother went to see oh so many times.  LOL  He'll probably be disappointed.  Paul Pope is not a 'cover band', and sings all his own songs.  He's good, real good, but he won't know the music, and no doubt will be so embarrassed as his mother sings and dances to the beat.   I am planning on taking my camera, and I am hoping to take a video of at least one song.

Yesterday was a blast!!   I think the pictures of my nephew (my nieces husband) says it all.  Flippin Hot!!!   I got off work at about 2:15ish and headed to my parents.  The sun was out, the humidity like a blanket we didn't need.  I got my suit on and sat pool side.  I thought about going in when I first got there and got down one step and immediately felt as though I was in a glass of ice.  'I don't think so!'  One by one, two by two, family members arrived.  Bug and Gage took a total of 2 seconds to get in the pool.  Ok, it may have taken Bug a little longer, she needed her life jacket on.  Did they care the water was cold?  NO!  In they went and played for hours.  Lips didn't turn blue or purple, and no chicken skin.  So what was wrong with me?  I'm old and cold ice water wasn't my kind of fun.

DsDesignsLittleMermaidBug.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

I snapped picture after picture, laughing at the kids, young and old.  Then it hit me, I was hot.  I jumped in.  Brrrrrrrr and jumped out.  Felt refreshing and no doubt had I stayed in I would have gotten use to it as well.  But, I'm a chicken shit!!  Besides I was having as much fun watching and grabbing memories.  Burgers and dogs along with salads and chips for dinner.  Ice Cream cones for dessert.  More swimming and laughs before we called it a night about 9.  I was hoping to post these last night, but when I got home my eyes and body thought different.  I was tired.  I got in my jammies, turned the fan to blow on me and went fast asleep.

Hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend!!  Enjoy the days..........

~ Hot and Steamy ~

DsDesignsbackyarddeer.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

Well summer has arrived.  Yesterday the temps soared into the mid 80's, the humidity was about 200%  So thick you cut it with a knife.  Haze hanging over the horizon.  The change caused havoc on my sinuses.  My head felt as though it would blow up in 1000 pieces.  Doesn't help with all the pollen and stuff flying in the air.  The older I get the more allergies hit me.  Wild storms blew through here last night giving a little relief, but it isn't suppose to last long.

I found these deer in my backyard the other day.  For a second they posed then there were off to the woods.  No doubt looking for some shade... or their babies... I know there are some back there just haven't gotten the evidence yet.

Today it's going to be in the 90's they say.  Still tons of humidity.  When I heard the forecast earlier in the week I decided to use another 2 hour pass and leave early.  My parents pool is open and it should prove to be refreshing.  Hopefully they'll turn the heater on this morning to get the chill out of the water.....  if not we'll be sharing it with some ice.  LOL  Kidding of course but that water will be cold.

I know I owe some tags, and some requests and I will get to them.  I've not even opened PSP in the last couple days and with the warm weather here I want to get out and enjoy.  I trust you'll understand.  I've also just recently found out that alerts are acting up.  I've missed some entries by some friends and I am so sorry.  I'd never just ignore....   hopefully I've fixed the issue.....  trust me I want to stop by!!

Hope everyone has a great Friday!

~ It's Over ~

For those of you that do not know the Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup last night.   Congrats to both teams for their accomplishments and play.   Tho, Detroit came out in the first two games shutting out the 'guins and leading the series 2-0 Pittsburgh was not ready give up.  They came back in game three and won.  Detroit won game 4 in Pittsburgh and went back home thinking they'd seal the deal in Game 5 on Monday.  They were winning 3-2 with the less then a minute left to go.  The crowd was cheering and I think the players were thinking about lifting the cup above their head.  Pittsburgh would have nothing to do with it.  With about 30 seconds left they scored to send the game into overtime.  Overtime it was.  Three of them!!  I didn't invest all those nights watching the games to miss the trophy being awarded so yes I stayed up.  About 10 minutes into the third OT Pittsburgh scored sending the series to game 6.  About 1 in morning and I'm heading to bed.  OUCH!!!   Needless to say Tuesday at work I was a bit slow.  Last night the 'guins almost did it again.  With a couple of minutes left and the score 3-1 they score on the power play.  With seconds left Hossa sends the puck through the blue paint, but that is all it did.  Never did it cross the line and time ran out.  Detroit wins 3-2.

Thanks to all of you who voted in the poll.  Some 65 of you...  how cool is that to have some fun?  Voters picked Pittsburgh, but it was close.   Who did you vote for?  Did you pick correctly?

~ AOL Community Photo Challenge ~

JUDGED Category

The Magic hour, or Golden hour is the first  &  last hour of sunlight.
I
t's the 1/2  hour before the sun rises, & 1/2 after the sun rises.  It's also the 1/2 hour before sunset & 1/2 hour after.  So with this challenge you will need a tripod  & a timer or a remote.  You will also have a month to work on this.  You can use a file photo, but I think it would be good if we can all try to get out & do this challenge with new photos.
I plan on taking a number of photos during the magic hour to see how the colors change.  This is a personal challenge for me & I welcome all to this challenge.  This challenge starts Today May 23 & will end June 27.  It will be our last JUDGED category until the fall.

Thought I'd share this one for the challenge.  In my mind this is the magic hour.  Just before the sun goes completely down.  The colors up on the river always amaze me.  Vibrant and bright.  Now don't be trying to wipe the spots off your screen.  Another sign of sunset.... bugs!!   The shad flies at the river are unreal.... you can sort of see them here... but I have some that actually look like bats flying around... thought this was a better one for the challenge.  Join in the fun or view other entries by clicking the link above :)

~ Update ~

    DsDesignsJayhanginhead.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

Jay is hanging his head.  Not sure if he feels bad, or feels bad for being busted.  Seems he isn't as close to me as he is to Marie over at Photographs Memories too.  She left the comment below on my entry about Jay......

Comment from mariebm56

yeah yeah yeah....he doesn't fool me!
Yes, you got a few nice shots....but he's still mean & nasty to me...Ü
I'll never trust Jay again.....watch your back!

Marie

... scratching my head I wondered whatever she was talking about.  Jay looked handsome.  Posing for me, chest feathers blowing in the wind.  Not a care in world.  Leading me on like I was the one, the only one.   Apparently things are a bit different when you're at a little bit of a distance.  Watch my back I will.  I'm heart broken, the two timing bastard!!!  You may be handsome, cute, irresistible, but I now know better.  Or is that fling over?  Have things changed?  I am so confused.  ::sniffle sniffle:::

~ Jay and I have gotten so close ~

Yeap, I never thought it would happen.  They say when you aren't looking.........   I laid eyes on Jay for the first time several weeks ago.  He appeared out of no where but was pretty shy.  He'd lower his head or hide when I would come around.  I thought it was me.  That I wasn't good enough.  It didn't take long for me to realize it wasn't me, it was him.  Shy beyond belief, maybe nervous, afraid.  He did it to everyone.  No one could coax him out of that shell.  It's said he is mean and nasty.  That he scares everyone else off.  I had to wonder.  It seemed he was always the one to remove himself from the situation.

Today was different.  He let me in.  He allowed me to get close without scurrying off to some hiding place.  He perched himself high on the new feeder and watched as others ate.  Never did he attack, push himself on them, or scare them off.  Nor did he get scared off.  I was able to open the window and shoot away.  So handsome...............  In such a short time we've become close.

~ Your Tax Rebate ~

The federal government is sending each and everyone of  us a $600 rebate. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China . If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer it will go to India . If we purchase fruit and  vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras , and Guatemala . If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan. If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan ...and none of it will help  the American economy. The only way to keep that money here at home is to buy  prostitutes, weed, beer, and tattoos, since these are the only products still  produced in the USA . Thank you for your help and please support the U.S.A.

::evil grin:: Sorry, couldn't resist, sad as it is I thought it was funny.

~ And the rains came ~

DsDesignsRainCameMarsparty.gif picture by 55hockeyfan

The sun was barely out all morning, but it tried so hard to peek through the clouds.  The temperature didn't seem bad, but the winds were blowing.  The party was outside, but I knew a good portion of the grounds were under cover.  Didn't help with the wind, but I knew if the rains came it would be ok....  somewhat.  Who wants rain for an outdoor party even if there is cover????

I arrived in the parking lot and my niece and her family were right behind me.  Bug came running to give hugs and kisses.  I had printed out her silly girl graphic to give her.  I love listening to her laugh!  They tucked it away in the car and we made our way over to the entrance.  On the way a young couple were walking in as well.  My niece and I looked at each other.  'Oh shit!'  If they are going to the same party we are WAY underdressed!   She had a beautiful tea length dress and heels.  He had a suit and tie.  WTF!?!?!  Ok, maybe they have something else to do, maybe there are two parties going on.  We get to the opening and there is my cousin and her husband.  She, in a beautiful sea foam green dress, him in a suit.  My jaw must have been dragging on the ground because the two of them laughed, a huge belly laugh.  She headed towards us as we made our way in.  My eyes didn't scan the rest of the crowd already there, I was ready to fun for cover.  A pair of Capri's and top with a sweatshirt jacket in tow was NOT going to cut it.  She proceeded to tell me there was a wedding on the other side of her family and they came from the church and would be leaving later for the reception.  Wheeewww... it was then my eyes were able to look around.  They were overdressed, I wasn't underdressed.

Off to one side, and under cover was the huge smoker.  Pork, beef, and turkey.  The smell was amazing!!!  Tables set up under cover as well as a stretch of tables for food and snacks.   The grove itself is a huge rectangle, the covered portions are somewhat in an 'L' shape.  Tables and food at the bottom portion of the 'L', the bar and the longer end.  The mixture of where people stood was pretty spread out.  I suppose all in all about 80 people.  The wind was blowing and it was about 1 hour after arriving that the sky turned black.  The winds picked up, and the rains came.  I was standing at the bottom of the 'L' and looking through the open section of the grove over to the bar, it was a sheet of water.  I had to grab my camera.  I wasn't trying to focus on the people, I just wanted the effect of how hard it is raining.  I took a few shots, and as I was shooting away my nephew thought I was trying to sneak a picture.  He had the whole crowd turn and pop me the bird.  LMAO!!!   I could see it as I did it, but when I went to use that picture it was so blurry it wasn't worth the effort.  But Jeff, I did notice!   You goof ball!!

DsDesignsBugTreeClimbing.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

The rain lasted maybe an hour.  When it finally stopped the sun came out and the puddles quickly disappeared.  It never once effected the good time we were having, but it was so much better when it was over.   Tables got pulled out from under cover and we enjoyed the heat of the sun.  The kids ran and played on the grass.  The huge tree off to one side became their stomping grounds for hours.   They swung off the low hanging branches and found the perfect place to sit and relax.  As much as 'bug' is a girly girl, she is also a tomboy.  She had a blast climbing up the tree, find the nook, and posed.  She is not shy by any means, but she is going back and forth on whether she wants to be the subject of a photo shoot.  Yesterday was a good day as you can see.    Gage had fun climbing too.  He only had a few steps and pulls to get to the nook as he is that much taller, but I think it was still fun for him too.

DsDesignsGageTreeClimbing.gif picture by 55hockeyfan

A few hours after dinner the party started to die down.  The grove was reserved until 8pm.  By 9ish we were all headed out of there and the remainder of the party came back here.  The basement bar was full, the patio had several folks enjoying the evening air.  The living area had the numerous hockey fans planted in front of the TV to watch game 4.  It was a good night.  I think it was about 1am when I headed up to my bed.  I swear it was calling me for a good hour before I decided to respond.

Today is just a day of resting.  The sun has yet to peek through the clouds and it's a bit chilly.  Not what I expect for June 1, but what can you do?  I do hope this is NOT a sign of what summer will bring my area.   Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hugs
