Game Tonight

                                

The boys play their 6th game tonight against the Florida Panthers.  The Panthers have Luongo who is generally a great goalie.  He is probably coming off one of his worst appearances, giving up 3 goals in just over one period and being pulled from the game against Boston on Thursday.  He will definitely be looking to prove something tonight.  

There is a long way to go in the season of 82 games, but the boys have started out great, standing 4-1 as of now.  The won outright against the NY Islanders and Boston Bruins.  They won in overtime against the Pittsburgh Penguins and in a shootout against the Tampa Bay Lightning.  Their loss came at the hands of the Ottawa Senators, one of the favorites to win it all this year.   

Miller has started all games to date and has a 2.91 goals against.  He has looked extremely good and has definitely matured and grown since the last NHL season.  Our goal scorers are not any surprise.  Briere has 3 goals, 2 assists.  Afinogenov has 3 goals and no assists as of yet.  Gaustad has 2 goals and 2 assists.  Nice addition from the Amerks, he plays with great intensity and looks good out there!  Dumont has 2 goals and 1 assist.  Vanek has 4 assists, and has got to break out soon with goals.  He is phenomenal!  The strength he shows when carrying the puck is something this team has missed in the past few years.  He did score the winning goal in the shootout in TB, but the shoot out numbers do not go into the players stats.  With the number of posts he has hit and all the close calls he is bound to have a scoring run soon.  Starting tonight?  Ah, that would be nice.  

If anyone cares, Satan has 2 goals and 1 assist,  Zhitnik 1 goal and 1 assist withthe Islanders.  

Lets go boys bring home win #5!!

Had to share this.  I've been trying off and on to get a butterfly to flap its wings.  All I ever got was it 'jumping' around.  Finally, it worked!  I have a beautiful butterfly flapping its wings.  Yehaw!  Ok so little things.... ::giggle:: nevermind.   I just had to show it off :)

What a week!

                       

I can't believe how fast this week went by.  For me personally it wasn't a bad week, but I saw so much raw emotion that I actually felt drained!  

My coworker G has some major things going on in her life.  Her dad, who I believe is about 90, is very ill.  He's been ill since I've known her, but over the past year or so he has gone down hill.  In the last couple of months they said there was nothing more they could do.  He is home and has hospice coming in to help her Mom.  Her parents live about 3 1/2 hours away so it is a drive for her to get there, which she tries to do every weekend.  Last weekend while she was there they said he probably wouldn't make it through Saturday.  Well, he did, and on Sunday he was doing very well.  Or should I say had a great day.  She drove home Monday and went directly to work and was in the office by 8.  Ouch!  That means she was on the road before 5am.  On Wed her mother called and told her that dad had said he was ready to go and asked for her.  She left work, packed a bag and drove down again.  On Friday afternoon she called and said he was still hanging in there.  Far be it from me to wish anything bad on anyone, but this has taken such a toll on the whole family.  My heart goes out to them as they watch the pain and discomfort in the man they love and they can do nothing about it.   

Another coworker, D, has been witnessing a close family friend deal with a horrible accident.  On Wed evening a 17 year old girl, her sister 15, and a friend also 15 got in a car accident.  There was no alcohol involved, but think it may have been speed.  The Land Rover they were driving in hit a utility pole with such force it split the vehicle, portions of the pole went through the windshield.  The sisters were killed and the 15 year old girl in the back seat lost both her legs.  These girls lived down the street from D and were good friends with her daughter.  Such a tragedy for anyone to have to experience, and involving children just makes it so hard to come to terms with.  

On my home from work on Friday I was at a stop light.  Crossing the street in front of me was woman in her mid 30's I would guess.  She carried a box that appeared to be way too heavy for her.  I could see some of the content of the box, papers, folders, pictures, plants.  She definitely walked with a sadness in her step.  She was visible upset as tears rolled down her cheeks.  I assume the box contained the items from her desk as she was leaving work for the last time.  She was a perfect stranger and I am only guessing, but I found my eyes swell with tears.   

All week, it seemed folks were looking into the distance for a source of energy, power, comfort.  Are you there?  I hope they find the strength!  I complained of my aura recently and it is nothing in comparison.  How dare me!

Tag of the Day

                        

It's been a while and I will do a 'real entry' tomorrow when my thoughts are clear. In the meantime, I've been thinking I might do some more sharing of my 'work.'  I joined a group to assist me in learning all the capabilities of the software.  It's a great group that is so willing to answer questions, share suggestions, and help learn some finer points.  One the thing the group owners do is send a tube or graphic out each day Mon-Fri.  The object is to create something out of it.  A signature tag, just a plain tag, whatever.  We then send them back to the entire group for all to see.  I actually got the program to learn to do something's with my own pictures that I actually took, so these creations have basically been sitting on my PC.  I thought for the next few creations I will share them to get opinions, so please, do leave a comment.

Skyline

                       

A while ago I mentioned how foggy it was outside and how our skyline disappeared.  I found this picture of the skyline and thought I'd post it.  Yes, I edited the reflection in the water :)   

Local talk is the view will be changing.  If our politicians can get off their butts they will be adding some parks, office buildings, apartments to the inner harbor, to the right of the tall building (HSBC Bank).  Several years back we built a new arena for hockey and indoor events.  The old one has sat idle since.  Bass Pro may be coming to that building.  Again, if our politicians don't screw it up!  There has been a contract in place with Indians to build a casino downtown as well, ground needs to be broken by Dec 8.  It's been back and forth and no doubt it will turn into another Peace Bridge.  For at least 10 years there has been talk about redoing the bridge that comes over the river from Canada.  No one can agree on anything, style of the bridge, were it will come into NY, how many lanes.  No decision, still no new bridge!  

I don't know why there is so much turmoil about things like this, the city and county needs to move and improve before no one is left in the area!

Hasek had it tonight

                      

Well, the boys went down in flames tonight :(  They got beat 5-0.  The Sens are a great team and also fit into the new system and rules being called because of their speed.  The game started out very sluggish for the boys but they really never bounced out.  The effects of 3 games in 4 nights, or just playing a better team.  Can't tell yet, and not even going to worry about it this early in the season and this late at night.  Hasek was his typical slinky and robbed a few of the guys.  At 39 years of age, he still had it this evening.   

The boys come home and play Pittsburgh on Monday.  Crosby will be here after scoring his first NHL goal tonight.  Vanek will be next ::grin:: I am thinking positive!

Reflect, reflecting, reflection.........

                            

My great niece has to be the prettiest fairy in the world!  She got her Halloween costume, and promptly had to put it on.  She is a trip, she even went and got her little plastic high heel shoes to wear.  Such a girlie, girl.   

As I look back, her Mom was exactly the same way.  All the frills, softness, and pretties for the little girl.  Her Mom was the first born in our family and was spoiled absolutely rotten.  Isn't that what aunts, uncles, and grandparents are for?  

I remember one Christmas working at a local department store.  They had the cutest pajama's ever.  They were a cross between I Dream of Jeanie and Cinderella.  Silk, ribbons, soft netting mesh.  The top was powder blue silk/satin with a nice ribbon bow at the waist.  The bottoms (though it was one piece) had silk/satan covered with a balloon type netting mesh.  I just had to get them for under the tree.  Christmas Eve at my parents my as we opened gifts, my niece got to my gift.  She pulled the paper and ribbon off as young kids do and threw the box top off to the side.  As she peeled back the tissue paper a squeal, only a 4-5 year old could make, filled the room.  She promptly stood and removed every stitch of clothing and put the pajama's on.  Never have we seen her get in 'jammies' with such ease.  They were a huge hit, and I swear my sister had to wash them regularly as she wanted to wear them every night!  It wasn't long before the mesh at the knees wore out and I remember the crocodile tears when they had to finally be thrown away.  I wish I would have bought them in every size they had, all the way up the chart.  Live and learn!  

Like mother, like daughter our bug is exactly the same way. I will bet money they had to fight with her to get the costume off to go to bed!  As I sat and reflected back at our girlie girls, great aunt D had to adjust the picture :)  

Sleep tight all!  May the precious fairies sprinkle pixie dust as you fall into slumber....
