A little graphic I put together

Just a little graphic I put together.  All the bits and pieces of graphics that I arranged.  I am partial to the cat as it reminds me of my 'Fluff.'  Hair is not as long as Fluff's was, and the tail is wrong.  Fluff had a tail like that of a raccoon, but the coloring is there and the love of sitting in the window.

My New Years Eve

OK, so I wasn't sitting in a rocker, my hair isn't long enough to do a bun anymore, I use a bottle to cover the gray, and I don't wear half glasses!  I know I don't have a dress that looks anything like this, but I may have the boots.

I did however stay at home.  No plans for the big night, so my sister and I had a nice dinner and sat around relaxing.  She flipped through the channels and caught a few movies.  Do you know how many Tom Hanks movies were on?  I played on the computer doing graphics.  LOL what else is new... bring the new year in just like I sent the old one out.  It was nice.  No hustle and bustle to deal with.  A quiet, relaxing evening at home.  As you see, I did make it in to the new year.  And, no, I didn't pop in at my sons new place.  How many want to bet there is a party there!?!

I hope everyone had a good night and enjoyed what ever activities they decided on. If you need the chair to recuperate in, I will share it.  :)

Happy New Year

May the lights of the New Year shine on you and your loved ones

May all your dreams and wishes come true

May happiness and love be part of your day

And the straggling embers of light lead you on your way  DLD

I personally really have no resolutions for the new year.  I never keep them, and it just frustrates me.  I will of course try to be a better person and follow through on my earlier post of 'letting go.'  Jan's comments are so true that we need to know the difference of which to let go of.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday and I wish you all the best in the New Year.  May Father Time give you the strength and courage to do the things you need to.

  Happy New Year my friends!

Letting go will Not put you in the Naughty Chair

Let it go for 2006

By T. D. Jakes

There are people who can walk away from you.

And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk
away from you: let them walk.
I don't want you to try to talk another person into
staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring
about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you.
I mean hang up the phone.

When people can walk away from you let them walk.
Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

The bible said that, they came out from us that it
might be made manifest that they were not for
us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have
continued with us. [1 John 2:19]

People leave you because they are not joined to you.
And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them

Let them go.

And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just
means that their part in the story is over. And you've
to know when people's part in your story is over so
that you don't keep trying to raise the dead.
You've got to know when it's dead.

You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you
something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the
tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It's not
that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know
whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me.
And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop
begging people to stay.

Let them go!!

If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong
to you and was never intended for your life,
then you need to......

If you are holding on to past hurts and pains ......

If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and
see your worth.....

If someone has angered you .

If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and

If you are involved in a wrong relationship or

If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets
your needs or talents.

If you!  have a bad attitude.......

If you keep judging others to make yourself feel

If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take
you to a new level in Him......

If you are struggling with the healing of a broken

If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try
to help themselves......

If you're feeling depressed and stressed .........

If there is a particular situation that you are so
used to handling yourself and God is saying "take
your hands off of it," then you need to......

Let the past be the past. Forget the former things.
GOD is doing a new thing for 2005!!!

Get Right or Get Left .. think about it, and then ..

The Boys are Back

Since the win streak ended, the boys played 5 games and won 4, receiving 9 of a possible 10 points.  Their only loss was to their rival Toronto in a shoot out last night. They came back strong tonight and beat Atlanta 4-1.  Ryan Miller was superb in net and kept them in it at crucial times.  He missed a good portion of the beginning of the season after a fluke shot that his thumb.  He was looked over to play in the Olympics for the Americans and I think it's a shame.  The goalies chosen, Grahame with a 2.94 goals against, DiPietro with 3.43 both playing 30 games.  Ryan has only played 13 but boasts a 2.50 goals against.  Doesn't seem right to me.  Sure maybe I am a bit bias :)  I know he has to be disappointed but he can rest before the play off push instead of being in Italy.  The winter Olympics are in Italy, aren't they?  The boys have a crazy schedule in March and play like 17 games.  We will need all the guys rested and ready to go!

We play home for the next 6 games and then we are off to the West Coast.  We?  LOL Don't you just love that I include myself?  Historically the boys don't play well out west, but this isn't the historical boys either.  Hopefully they can stay on their run and gather points to stay in the front of the pack.  Currently they sit in second place in the entire league and are only 3 points behind the leading Senators.   In the conference they fall to 4th because of the seeding rules.  Each Division leader is automatically ranked 1-3 then they go in order of points.

Pictured in the graphic above.  Goalies Marty Biron (without the mask) and Ryan Miller (mask resting on his head).  Forwards Thomas Vanek with his stick in the air after celebrating a goal and Max Afinogenov (My Maxie!).  Laying on his butt is defensemen, Rory Fitzpatrick.

Is it feeling drab?

Ok, maybe this is a better graphic to describe my mood.  After writing a rather lengthy email to a friend I miss a great deal I think I realized what my issue has been. I've felt a bit blah the last couple of days and I may have mistaken it for not being satisfied with direction my journal was going.  I think I was redirecting.

I feel like a lost puppy waiting at the door for a loved one to come home.  With each sound I feel my breath get heavier, and I have to look.  Only it's not them, it's someone else arriving.  It's not that oooh sooo lonely ache, but it is an ache nonetheless.  You miss the company and the conversation.  Others are around to help and do for a time, but you still have a longing...........

I never thought I'd say this, but I also miss the craziness at my house.  My son is about completely moved out and isn't staying here at all.  He has stopped by briefly each day and picked up a bit more to take out and slowly but surely all signs of him will be missing.  Not in my heart, but in my home.

I did some grocery shopping today and found myself using two carts.  One for me and one for him.  LOL Pretty sad but I spent more on his house then mine.  I had planned on doing that all along, just to get some of the basics in the house and get him started.  Being Mom, I got a bit carried away.  He was stopping here after work so I left the bags in my trunk for him to gather when he got here.  After he transferred them from one car to another he came in and the look on his face was so appreciative.  Made it all worth while, and I know there is food in his house.

So there you have it.  The after holiday blues, missing someone I care about a great deal, having my son move out, and having my vacation be almost over has obviously taken my mood and put it in the crapper!  Hopefully soon I can jump up and wag my tail!  Maybe today?  Now?  LOL

Y'all are Great

I just want to say thank you to all you lovely folks out there!  I appreciate your kind words and appreciate them.  By popular demand I will be going with the flow.  Hopefully it won't be as bumpy as the Mighty Niagara.  LOL

I have no set direction and really never did.  Sort of like my life :)  Why change now?

5 Weird Things

I was tagged by  hadonfiled78  to list 5 weird habits or things about myself.

If your tagged, you must tell 5 weird things about yourself, and tag 5 others :)

This was hard.... I guess I'm perfect as I couldn't think of any weird habits!  :)~

1.... I actually like my NightmareMom name and would never give it up :)

2.... For a middle aged lady I am a huge hockey fan, and admittedly know more about it than a good chunk of guys.  I call my favorite team 'my boys' and call them by their first name or a nickname I created (usually female)

3.... I don't care for TV, unless hockey is on :)  Rarely will you see me sitting in front of it.  Yet I need it on to fall asleep.

4.... I'm a nail tapper.  I don't mean just tapping my fingers/nails as I sit at a table but as I walk by a table/desk (at work) I have an uncontrollable urge/need to tap or drag my nails across the surface.

5..... You know those 'press here' stickers you see on toys, holiday decorations, etc.?  Yeap, you guessed it, I have to press there!  If you ever see me in a toy store..... run!  LOL

Now for my 5

Standing in the rain wondering

I happened to be playing around with some graphics and this one reminded me a bit of the feelings I've had regarding my journal.  When I started out months back I had no idea what was in store for me or for it.  It seems to have taken on a life of its own.  I still like to write a bit, but I was never one to 'lay' my life out there for all to see.  That really hasn't changed.  Besides, I would hate to bore you all with the mundane happenings of my life, so I keep that pretty short.  As I learn more and more about graphics and experiment with different things I find I really love it and enjoy it.  I love sharing the creations with you, and sure ok, I even kind of like the attention you give me with your comments.  :::giggle::: See, I can admit it.

My dilemma is so very minor compared to what is happening in the world and with others personal lives, but it is a dilemma just the same.  I am not sure what to do or what direction to go in with my journal.  Do I leave it as is and just have a hodge podge of entries and graphics.  Do I pick one and go with it.  You may or may not have noticed that I try to create a graphic for that specific entry, or I find one in my completed projects folder that fits what I want to write.  Over the past couple of weeks I found myself doing a lot of entries with just graphics for the season, and knowing that will be over soon I'd hate to limit myself to keeping with the 'times.'  Do I use my D's Designs for just the graphics and have so many miss them because they don't go to that one.

I guess my risque' entry got me thinking maybe I shouldn't have put that in this journal, but the other.  If I offended anyone I am truly sorry, it wasn't my intent.  I guess, I feel like I'm standing in the rain wondering what direction I should take or just stay on the path that lay before me.

Father Time

Ok, so who said I was going to use my time off wisely?!  LOL

Actually, I've done a lot with my time.  House is clean, laundry is almost done.  Did some partying and lunch with friends and family.  Went shopping and bought a new couch that will be picked up on Tuesday.  Helping my son with the finishing touches on his place and moving out.  LOL  Like cleaning up the room he left in shambles!  He did rather well, but with work and getting both places presentable I thought I'd help a bit.  And last but not least you can see I've done a few graphics.

Happy New Year........ a little risque'

Another New Year Baby

I had several comments and emails regarding my original New Year Baby that I created another one for use.  I truly hope everyone will honor my wishes and not use my personal family pictures on their journals/pages.  I offer many graphics for the taking and would be more than happy to try and create something unique for you.  Please leave my personal unique pictures for me.  I am not trying to be mean, or a b**** and I hope you all understand.

Thanks!  I appreciate it :)

Some silly ones :)

A couple of New Year Graphics :)

New Year Feast

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I find New Year's Eve we have a huge meal.  All the good pleasures, steak, seafood, you name it and it is generally on the menu someplace.  I am not sure what we will do this year, but I know we will not 'want' for anything.  Anyone have a traditional New Years meal?

New Year Baby

Recently I was asked about New Year animations.  It was an inspiring conversation because someone was actually looking forward to them.  With the hustle and bustle of Christmas I wasn't even thinking New Year to that extent.  Got my butt in gear they did. Christmas was pretty easy because of snow and the characters that can be used.

I was trying to think of something different to do and I remembered this picture.  It is a picture of Gage (he's 6 now) during his first holiday. We couldn't resist sitting him like this and having him 'play' with the hat, glass, and the cheap lay.  I decided to use this because of his grandmothers comments a few entries back.  Ya happy grandma?

Of course, his glass was empty.... I added the champagne to share :)   Happy New Year.

UPDATE:  Please do not snag and use this.  Thank you :)

Moving Out

Or is it moved out?  Back in spring my son and his buddy started looking for a place to move to.  It's been an on again off again search.  A couple of weeks ago they found a house for rent.  It isn't far from me, not even a couple of miles.  I could walk there.  I won't, but I could if the urge to do so came upon me.  They take over completely Jan 1, but the landlord gave them the keys and allowed them to start moving over the holiday since they both had some time off.  Needless to say each day and/or night they've been there cleaning, repainting, and making it 'their' place.  Each time he left he took a little with him.  I wanted to go check it out so I could help, maybe measure windows, something to help out.  His response was it wasn't ready and when his bed and dresser got there I could see.

Monday the bug bit them.  No, not our little 'bug,' but the moving bug.  By dinner time his room was a shambles and all the furniture was gone.  He has some clothes and a huge mess, but everything is basically gone.  I had got him some items for Christmas and they soon disappeared from under the tree.  Monday after dinner I was headed to one of my sisters house to see her tree and have a holiday visit.  Of course, on the way I stopped at the new place.  He met me at the door and before he could say a word I told him.  'Your bed and dresser are here, and now so am I.' We both chuckled and we walked in.  The place isn't bad.  It's got a solid roof, floors, and the windows appear to be ok.  We will know more when the temperature drops down below 0.  LOL They have it decorated like a guys place.  Mind you they are both about 20, so it is definitely not a place for Mom to visit unannounced.  It looks good, and I'm proud of them.  They did most of the work alone.  Not sure if they wanted the to be proud of that fact, or wanted it to be all done before anyone saw it.  Either way they both should be proud.

Me?  Well, I have mixed emotions.  I'm heart broken as he is my 'baby,' I am scared that it won't work and they both are trying so hard, I am excited as he wants this so bad.  Not that he hates living with me.  At least I don't think that is it, I think he just wants to be an adult.  I am also very proud.  Proud that he took the bull by the horns and did it.  He needs to learn and we've all struggled at one time or another.  It made us stronger.  It will make him stronger too.  Once again I have to quote a good friend who gave me great words when he went to Florida in the summer.

It's like learning to swim. Remember the feeling you had when you first got the nerve to actually paddle and splash your arms erratically a few feet into the "deep end"? You know, where your toes, for the first time, were no longer clinging to that muddy river bottom that gave a sense of security. Even if only for a few seconds, it's a new beginning.  "by RH"

Another new beginning in his young life.

These say it all

Crazy days and crazy nights

It has been so hectic the last few days, as I am sure it has been with everyone.  The entire family spent Christmas Eve at my parents.  It's tradition and we've been doing it since I can remember.  We have a wonderful holiday dinner and then sit to open gifts.  My Dad's gift arrived on Friday.  We all chipped in and bought him a beautiful recliner.  I think he likes it even though he says he'd never spend that kind of money.  Santa arrived for the kids and had several gifts in his bag.  Gage was in awe and the 'Bug' was scared to death.  Well, scared but not so much that she didn't go snatch the gifts he handed her.  My sister and I had gifts for them, but we also included one portion of the dress up gift that would be given to Bug on Christmas Day.  I think the outfits were a hit.  Though Gage has the facial expression of Ralphie after he was forced to wear the bunny jammies, Gage actually put on his outfit without any prompts from us.

After the little kids and our kids did their exchange we did our traditional $5 trade off.  Everyone brings a gift that is no more than $5, wrapped of course.  Everyone starts with a gift, and not necessarily the one they brought.  A story about the Right family gets read.  Each time 'right' is said the gift you have goes to the right, when 'left' is said it goes to the left.  When the story is over what ever you have, you open.  It's always fun and very interesting to see what you get.  Anything goes and it usually turns into a laugh fest.  Next year, I think we need a new story!

Then it was our exchange.  We picked names and did a somewhat 'theme' basket.  I had my younger sister and did a 'pamper' me basket.  New robe, new slippers, hand creams, a few cocktails, manicure set.  My older niece (bug and Gage's Mom) hadme, she got me the softest robe I'd ever touched.  At that point of the day I couldn't wait to go home and put it on.  It was not cold here for Christmas, but I didn't care.  It was soft and comfy.  New slippers, some perfume, gloves & a scarf finished it off.  The night was a huge success!

Most of Christmas Day was spent at home.  Sweet rolls and coffee while we opened gifts.  My son got me a tripod which I absolutely am thrilled with.  Some computer supplies and CD's for burning.  Oh, and nice fleece jammies that I happen to be wearing now.  LOL  He got way to much as usual and won't bore you with the details.

After our ham dinner we went to my sisters house (grandma) to give the kids the rest of their gifts.  All were successful and they loved them.  Bug is such a card and absolutely loved her dress up.  Gage enjoyed his gifts and immediately put together one of his pirate Lego sets.

Merry Christmas!

This past year has been filled with many ups and downs, but all in all has been a good one.  In mid-June I decided to start my journal.  I wrote bits and pieces about different things and soon came to love doing it.  In mid September (I think) I started working with PSP and animation.  Never did I expect it to be so much, so addictive and so rewarding.  Let alone explode into what it has become.  I wasn't even sure I was any good at it.  Friends and family tell me I am and surfing through J-Land kind of confirms it.  Over the past few nights I tried to catch up on my reading and I found so many of graphics on others pages it made my heart swell.  Sometimes I had to double check to make sure I wasn't back at my journal.  :)   I was asked if it bothers me that my graphics are snagged and used elsewhere.  I have to admit sometimes I feel a twinge because that specific graphic had some personal meaning and I wanted it to be unique to me, but then it leaves as quickly as it came.  I am flattered beyond belief that so many enjoy what I've made.  That they think it is good enough for their space.  I am honored to be placed so carefully in someone else's words, their stories - thank you!  J-Land has become like family and I love to see everyone share so willingly.  Be there for a hug, an encouraging word, a shoulder of support, a friendly smile, a good joke.  It's a wonderful place and I am thrilled to be part of it.

To my extended family and friends I'd like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. May the New Year be filled with joy, good health, and prosperity.  I look forward to our continued sharing.

And one she didn't know about :)  I just thought it was so pretty and so 'in season'

Merry Christmas!  Thanks again Linda

Winter Barn

Another beautiful winter scene that Linda let me borrow and play with.  The picture really needed no help, but you all know me by now.  Besides making it snow I just had to add the cardinal.  I thought it looked good and she said she didn't mind.  Thanks Linda!

Frozen Pond

Cindy at Paragon was kind enough to let me snag her picture of the frozen pond.  Even though it is in the 40's here today and supposed to be warmer by Sunday this is a familiar sight in my neck of the woods.

Thanks Cindy!

Trees For Sale

Drove by a lot that was selling Christmas trees earlier and it was mobbed.  Didn't appear to be a whole of trees left but lots of buyers.  Guess it's down to the wire for folks!!  Get your tree and fast, time is running out.

Will the gifts go under the tree? LOL

I saw this picture and thought how funny, is it a scene to come on Saturday night when I try to get my fat butt under my tree to lay the gifts out?  I tried to move the butt to give the effect of crouching more, but the effect was not at all what I wanted, well not what I wanted in this animation.  I feared I would get TOS'd!  LOL  So this is what I ended up with.

Well, I didn't scream at work today but I will be taking a 2 hour pass tomorrow and leaving early.  I cannot do one more full day!!  The people I need to talk to are out on vacation or busy doing year end and just don't have time to talk.  Leaving voice mail gets old after about 1 hour.  And the poor souls that do answer the phone, they can't get me to stop talking.  I swear it was like working 14 hour days all week.  So I will go in tomorrow, make a few calls, do some paper work, make the rounds to wish everyone a good holiday and come home and be off until the new year.  Now that's something to look forward to.

Ok, so maybe I won't come straight home tomorrow, maybe I will stop and buy something for me to put under that tree or will the gifts have to go next to?!

All Good Things Must End :(

I did not do this animation but am using to send wet kisses to the boys.  I still love 'em and that this was just too cute.  The win streak ended tonight for Marty and the road game streak ended at 9.  The Sabres of years gone by share the record of 10 consecutive road games, but I would have loved to see these guys do it!  They play hard, have showed up most nights and deserved it, but alas all good things must end.  I will send thanks to the Philadelphia Flyers as they beat the Sens and that keeps us only 2 points out of first place.  Did I actually thank the Flyers?  LOL

Way to go boys, bounce back tomorrow and start it up again :)

Opposite ends of the Spectrum

The last couple of days have been absolutely nuts.

Monday morning I get on the highway to go to work.  As my car got up to about 35-40 I felt a horrible shake in the front end.  I swore I had a flat tire.  I pulled over and nothing.  Tires looked fine.  I couldn't see any ice or snow in the wheel well or in the hubcap area.  I got back in my car and started to drive, same thing.  Decided I wasn't going to risk it and turned around and went home.  I had my son drive me in as he wasn't going to be without his car all day when he didn't have to work.  Not that he needed/wanted to do anything but sleep, it's just the idea.  I swear the work day was 3 days long.  It dragged on and on and I felt myself checking the clock more often than not.  I think it's because I am on vacation next week and so many are already on vacation.  I'm a bit worried about my car as I just spent a boatload on the holidays and I know I have to get a new couch.  The day finally ends and a coworker drives me home.  I have my son follow me to the dealer so they can make sure my tire isn't going to fall off.  About 2 miles in I hear a thud and thought what the hell just fell off my car.  I call my son on his cell as he is behind me and he tells me he has no idea, didn't see anything.  Well, low and behold the car is driving better.  Well, I know my tire didn't fall off but I still want them to look at it.  They pull in it real fast only to find there was some ice packed on the inside of the tire/hubcap.  Remember that thud?  Yeah, it was the majority of it falling off.  My son calls me an ass, and I feel a bit foolish but safe.

Monday night my boys beat the Philadelphia Flyersin over time.  They have now tied the NHL record for consecutive road wins and will be looking to set a new record on Thursday in Florida.  With any luck at all they will pull it off.  Marty Biron (goalie) is looking to extend his consecutive win streak to 14.  He didn't play Sunday but surely they will put him back between the pipes soon to make a run at that.  I haven't been able to find the actual record there but I know it's been a good 10 years since anyone reached 13.

Tuesday I grunt and groan all morning.  I did not want to go to work.  I really wanted to just stay home and be a bum.  Kind of like the redneck Christmas Carole... sung to the beat of Little Drummer Boy.....  get a job you bum, bum, bum, bum.  :)   We had a department Christmas lunch and exchanged gifts with our secret Santa.  It was fun and nice to just sit around and talk, but that part of the day flew by and I ached for 4:30 to come.

Tuesday night my son got home from work and announced that he put a security deposit down on a house.  He and his buddy will be moving in the 1st of Jan.  This didn't come as a complete shock as he has talked about it and they had looked here and there.  Apparently this place just can't be passed by and they have to do it now.  Not wait until they are a bit more secure or have a few more items.  I am heart sick and excited for him at the same time.  It's been just him and I for so long I will be lost.  Not that he was ever home anyway, but you get the idea.  Good thing Martha Karen is here and he is less than 2 miles away.  Am I sick or what???  Not like he is moving half way across the country or world.

I stayed up a bit late last night trying to catch up on email and journal visits.  I've neglected my visits.  Between my graphics, the holidays, blah, blah, blah, I hadn't really stopped by anyone's and was feeling a bit bad.  Sorry if that sounds like an excuse.

This morning I ache and I don't want to move.  Not like I did anything but sit on my ass last night, but I feel like I got hit by a truck.  I do a little mail in the am and then jump in the shower.  I turned the water on hot, and I spent way to much time enjoying it relax my muscles.  When I get out I realize I have to fly to work or be late.  Yeap, you guessed it, traffic was a bear!  I did make it on time, but I hate that rushed feeling.  About 3 o'clock it felt like it was midnight.  I felt as though I could not do another thing.  By 4 I wanted to scream!  I decided to go talk to my boss a bit and wind down.  When I got back to my desk I had a great email waiting.  The marketing firm I did the Holiday Card had sent me a note thanking me for the work.  Turns out they had lots of comments about how nice it was... blah blah.  One of their clients had an emergency and needed a card too.  Yeap, you guessed it.  Commissioned to do another animation.  Now I'm stoked!  I could get use to this extra money.  I email them back and hoped for the best.  When I got home tonight I quickly checked mail and then made a quick call hoping to catch the girl in the office.  She had already left but I spoke to the owner.  All is good and the check will be sent out ASAP.  She strokes my ego a bit and asks if I enjoy doing the animation and how I liked working with them.  Of course I was honest and said eeeeeeeww I hate it.  LOL  Now you all know better :)   We had a nice talk and she is looking for some other animation.  Not holiday cards, but for web sites, etc., for their clients.  Yehaaw I think I just got a little side work.  Keep your fingers crossed!

I've probably bored you all to tears with my emotional roller coaster ride this week.  Up and down, round and round.  Life, it's a funny thing, eh?  I saw this picture and animated it thinking it was a bit soothing, relaxing, reminding me of my shower?  LOL Anyway, thought it would calm me and get me back grounded.  Besides it isn't snowing!!!  Only 2 more days of work before the holiday and vacation.  Will I last without screaming???

PS no proof reading or spell check on this one, can't live through it again :)~

Winter Scene before I go to bed :)

Who's on Santa's Lap

Well, my sister commented on her granddaughters entry and I started feeling bad that I had left the 'bug's' big brother out.  It was not done intentionally, but done nonetheless.  I since corrected the issue by adding a picture he designed.  His ideas I just did the clicking.  You can all rest assured you will see a bit more of the handsome fellow going forward.

I went searching through pictures to see what else I had that I could add and I really didn't have any good shots of him, but I did find this oldie but goodie.  It's been a long time since I sat on Santa's lap, but apparently there is proof I did.  That would be me on his lap.  My sister Karen (Martha) on the left and my sister Pat on the right.  What a hoot!

Now scroll down and look at Baby it's cold out and tell me what you think.........

A subtle hint?

Ok, ok, I get the point.  It's just so easy to make cute little girls frilly and sparkly.  Not something I want to do to a little boy.  With that said, Gage, 'the handsome big brother' posed for a picture that we could animate together.  He was here the other day and we created what he wanted.  Reindeer ears (no they are not horns!), blinking eyes, a nose that glows and fur.  I've been told I am good, but geeeeeeeeze he didn't want much did he?  Grandma's right, he is not on here as much as he should be so.........................

Pretty Girls

Not our 'bug', but I thought they came out cute. :)

For the Sea Lover in You

Bringing Home the Tree

Today was a very lazy day around my house.  Other than baking a few cookies not much was done.  We barely got dressed, well in sweats if you call that dressed.  :)

Earlier in the day I opened the front curtains to let a bit of the natural light in and to show off our tree.  We have it standing on a table in the front window and I must admit looks wonderful from the street.   I live on a rather busy street and since we don't decorate outside I wanted the festive spirit to be seen.  Our tree is fake so it has been up for a bit, but when I got a real tree I generally waited closer to the big day.  I wasn't alone.  Today I saw a parade of vehicles pass by.  Trees tied to the top, sticking out the trunk, or laying in the bed of a truck.  I saw the local fire department drive Santa by for all the kids, carols playing.  I remember when my son was younger he'd go out and Santa would give him a candy cane.  Not many kids out today, but surely he found some down the way.  It was sign that the big day is right around the corner.  Can I just say I am glad my tree is up and decorated.  I can pretty much relax and bring in the Holiday without too much rushing around.

Wrapping up

catboxes.gif No, not in a warm blanket, but gifts.  Lots and lots of gifts.

Yesterday was a very productive day.  Out of the house mid morning and off to the stores.  I really hated the thought of shopping this weekend but I really needed to finish up.  I had very little for my son and the gift card from last week was not going to cut it.  I got both checks for the Christmas Cards I did and it was off to the bank.  Mad dashes in and out of stores.  My sister and I had a great time laughing as we watched different 'characters' shop, and spending our hard earned money.

I don't usually do free advertising but since AOL decided to put what they wanted here on my journal, I thought I would put in a plug for a store that saved me lots of time and money yesterday.  We went into Old Navy and made a huge dent in the shopping list.  Fleece jackets, pull overs, socks, jammies, gloves, scarves, jeans.  You name it, they had it.  My arms were so full of items, I think I had them too.  When I checked out and saw the number of items I had decided to purchase, I cringed.  When the sales clerk told me the total, I was thrilled.  Still had money to spend!  LOL

After a good 4 hours or so of shopping we stopped to grab a bite to eat and call it a day.  We decided to get our eats to go and eat in the comfort of our own house.  We brought the food in and ate and then went to get bag after bag of our new purchases.  We were home along, which is so unusual, and decided to start the wrapping process.  Lovingly we laid the items out.  Boxes, gift bags, wrapping paper, bows, tape, name tags, all over the living room.  It sure looked messy, but we had it down to a science.  We had a pot of coffee to warm our chilled bones.  One of the stores we had stopped at earlier in the day was a liquor store.  I picked up Starbucks Coffee Liqueur andwe added it to the warm drinks.  Yum, it was the best.  In the background my boys were playing and winning.  Marty Biron had just won his 13th straight game, something that hasn't been done in like 10 years.  Osgood (I think) was the last goalie to do it.  We laughed, talked, planned, and had a nice evening.

When all was said and done we had gifts galore!  We both felt like climbing in a box and wrapping ourselves for a good night sleep.  Oh, did I say 'felt like it?', we did!  Today as we reassessed I think we are both pretty much done.  Maybe a little item here and little item there but the bulk is complete.

Baby It's Cold Outside

I don't think anything else needs to be said.  If this face doesn't warm you up, there is no hope!  :)

UPDATE:  To answer the question this is my great niece.  Our Bug :)

Caroling Through J-Land

To participate:

1) Make an entry titled "Caroling Through J-Land" with these same instructions so others can play along.

2) Visit as many journals as you can and look for their entry titled "Caroling Through J-Land". Leave the title of your favorite carol, along with your name and link to your journal for other carolers.

3) Spread the word so we all can meet new friends and spread some Christmas cheer!

4) Caroling ends this Sunday night at midnight to give everyone plenty of time to make the rounds.

I don't know how or why this became my favorite Christmas song.  Every single time I hear it I get goose bumps and completely choked up.  Half the time I can't even get the words out.  My throat becomes tight and my eyes fill with tears.  Maybe because it isn't all about materialistic things, but a kindness, something from the heart.  Maybe it's because I've been that 'poor boy' with only my love to give.  Maybe it's about new life and the effect it has....  It's been my favorite so long I really don't know I just know it rum pum pum pum

Happy Holidays to You!

Wishing on a Star

At this time of year it seems that everyone, kids and adults alike wish upon a star.  Kids look at Santa, if they aren't too afraid to sit on his lap and whisper their secrets.  Asking for the best toy ever, for a special event to come true, for all their little worries to be gone.  Adults, well we do too.  Some are silly enough to sit on Santa's lap, others just look to the stars and make that wish.  I know this is true as I've read it in JLand.  I've even seen some have already come true.  Keep wishing and have faith!  This is the magical season where wishes on a star come true.

Since my couch bit the dust tonight as my nephew sat down, my wish will be for a new one.  LOL  I guess sis and I will not be shopping for each other after Christmas we will be shopping for a new couch!  Definitely not enough places to sit in the house without one, and the one I have now is going to be used only for decoration until a new one can take it's place.  Suppose this gets me out of entertaining this holiday.  LOL  Party is over there ------------------------------------->

Unless of course Santa brings a new one.

Checking it twice.........

Ok one last one for tonight.  Had to share this new one :)  Not exactly what I wanted, but I guess it isn't too bad.

Checking it twice... now that is something I did tonight.  I didn't get to watch the hockey game as this one was not televised here, and even if it was I was at the party......   The boys did win 4-3 against the Dallas Stars.  What I did see and hear it sounded like a great game.  Bill Clinton was in attendance and actually spoke to the boys prior to the game.  He was a guest of the owner, Tom Golisano.  Marty Biron won his 11th in a row, extending his personal and franchise-best winning streak. He became the first goalie to win 11 in a row since New Jersey's Martin Brodeur in 2001.  Congrats Marty!  I had to check the 'list' twice because as it stands now the Sabres are 4th in the conference.  And, like I said, I did double check :)  Far better than most thought, some power rankings have them at 15, 16, 17 in the entire league.  Hmmpphh!!

On that note I'm off to bed.  Night all :)

Santa Baby

Now this is what I call a 'Santa Baby!'  Our precious little bug all dressed up. Some of you may already know I come from a large family, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.  Today the sisters were bad.  My youngest sister turned 38 today, and well she is the baby and we just had to get her.  So, my sister invited her and my parents over for dinner and the rest of us showed up later.  A surprise 40th party for her.  Hey, who would expect their surprise 40th on their 38th?  Happy Birthday Nanc, we love you! It was pretty funny and I almost wonder if she actually thought we believed it was her 40th, at first anyway.  Everyone played along right down to the cards.  She was a hoot!  As we sang to her, the 'bug' blushed and bowed her head just like she did at her party a few months back.  I guess she thought she got 2 birthdays a year.  She'll learn she won't want them soon enough.  Grandma brought out the bugs holiday dress and of course she had to put it right on.  Remember what we got her for Christmas?  Well, the entire outfit was on, Santa dress, bloomers, her hat, and white furry booties.  It was the perfect time to get a picture of her in front of the tree.  I have a hard time getting her to look at the camera.  She plays shy!  Needless to say I bribe her with being on the computer and she poses and poses and poses.  When I'm done she asks for more puter aunt Donna and poses some more, rarely looking at me.  So, I can't be a liar, so here she is in her Christmas pretties, one of many I am sure :)
