~ Holy Crap! ~

DsDesignsBillsGame9-30-07.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

What a weekend!!!  Simply put, it was awesome.  Good friends, good food, and good weather.  Dinner last night was great.  Italian always hits the spot.  We arrived at the restaurant a few minutes early and thank God we had reservations.  We were seated fairly quickly, but those without reservations had an hour wait.  As a side note, I would have left.  The food is good, but not that good.  We were served quickly and we hung out laughing and having fun over some coffee.  The area was buzzing as the Sabres were playing and the arena wasn't too far away.  When we left about 8:30ish there was still a line to get in the place.  In the car I immediately put the radio on to see how my boys were doing.  It was the last preseason game and it was once again against the Pittsburgh Penguins.  The score was tied at 2 about 5 minutes into the last period.  The 'Guins scored shortly after we got moving.  Within a few minutes Pominville scored with an assist from Roy.  Finding out later Roy scored one of the early goals, giving him a 2 point night.  He's an animal I tell you!!  With about 5 minutes to go Tim Connolly scored and gave us the lead, 4-3.  I was a bit rude and left the radio on to hear the play.  I've learned the game isn't over until that final buzzer goes.  Last year on more then one occasion we scored with only seconds left.  The 'Guins have some offensive fire power so this one could change in a blink of an eye.  We arrived at the hotel with a few minutes left and I sat there to hear it out.  YEAH Baby... the horn goes and Buffalo wins 4-3.  Now it's on to the 'real' games, starting Friday.

We sat in the hotel and had a few drinks and talked up a storm.  Some deep discussions and lots of laughs.  Before I knew it the clock was striking 1:30 and it was time to go home and get some sleep.  A smile on my face and full belly.  What more could you ask for?  My head wasn't on that pillow but a few minutes and I was out cold.

Woke this morning to a crisp blue sky.  The sun was out and it was perfect football weather.  Had a few cups of coffee to kick start my body and got dressed.  Of course sporting my red, white, and blue team colors.  My house isn't to far from the stadium and really close to the highway entrance so they drove to me and then we switched cars, leaving their's here and I drove to the stadium.  Traffic wasn't bad until we got close, but even then it wasn't too bad.  We got into the parking lot and enjoyed the sights and smells.  Tailgating every where you looked.  Food cooking on grills, folks playing catch, dancing on roof tops of buses.  The fans didn't seem to care that we were 0-3.  They were ready.

We made our way to the gates and into the club level.  We found a table and had some lunch.  Believe it or not I spent almost as much there in that short time as I did for dinner the night before.  Highway robbery!!  I guess they know folks will pay it, so they charge it.  Shawn (my clients son) and I walked out and took a look at the field.  There were a few guys out warming up.  Brian Moorman was practicing his kicks.  It was fun to watch and of course with camera in hand I grabbed a few shots.  Moorman has been with the Bills a few years after going to school in Pittsburgh.  He is one of the best.  My timing wasn't always perfect but I did get some nice shots.  The one in the collage is actually during the game and I had to use it.  All I could think of was 'Karate Kid'  :)

After lunch we made our way to our seats.  We had a great view!  The first half ended with no score.  Now, I'm not trying to take away from the Jets, but to be honest it was two shitty teams playing.  It wasn't horrible, nor was it boring, there just wasn't any scoring.  In the third quarter the teams traded touch downs.  The Bills scoring first.  In the fourth the Bills went on a drive and it ended in a field goal. They are up 10-7.   The Bills defense wasn't perfect but they did come up with some big plays when they had to.  With an interception the Bills drove towards the goal line.   It was fourth down and less then a yard.  The field goal unit came out.  The crowd chanted, 'go for it.'  They wanted the coach to try for the TD.  A time out called and when the team took the field the offensive unit came out.  The crowd went wild.  If they score the coach is a genius, if not he's a failure.  Doesn't matter what the fans wanted.  In the end it didn't matter.  A short one yard pass and the score was 17-7.  The Jets did not give up.  They drove down and scored, giving them hope.  With about 4 minutes left the Bills had the ball and failed to do anything and had to punt the ball away.  I cursed.  Too much time left, defense has to stand tall and stop them.  The Jets were driving and it looked like they might just do it.  In Buffalo territory Chad Pennington attempted a pass, the crowd explodes as McGee intercepts and the clock reads 6 seconds.  They did it.  Holy crap they won!  It was a good day.  The Miami Dolphins got spanked so we are no longer the worst team in the league ::evil grin::

Both local sports teams pulled out a win and I had a great time with friends.  I'm dragging my ass right now and it's off to bed.  I know I owe several tags and will get caught up tomorrow.  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  Mine was great with some escaping the deep heart ache I've had all week.

~ Work or Pleasure ~

DsDesignsBuffaloBills.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

Good Morning!  I can't put into words just how glad I am this week is over.  It hung on like a spider to it's web.  Spinning out of control and weaving a mess of bad news and exhaustion.  It's time to step back and take a breath, try and get back a positive outlook.  Your support, good words, prayers, and private emails have lifted my spirits beyond belief.  Thank you!

I'm much better.  I am not sure what kicked my ass more.  The infection, the antibiotics, or the news.  All I know is I wasn't myself all week.  The other day driving into work I was minding my own business on the route I have taken for 15 years.  Yeah, I've been fabricating the job that long.  LMAO!!!  The red lights on the street I was on are timed.  I headed down the road and before I knew it I heard tires squealing.  In the intersection I realized I just ran a red light.  I don't mean a yellow that turned, I mean a red light!  No accident but I started to shake.  What the hell was I thinking?   What was I doing?  Where the hell was I?  I got to work and sat in the parking lot thinking I had to pull things together before I completely lost it.  I cried.  I took a deep breath and told myself this was doing no one any good.  Positive thoughts!!  My sister was told on Tuesday that she has pneumonia, she needs a break from chemo so things could clear up.  Then the bomb was dropped.  Her scan from the week earlier showed things are not improving but growing.  When she goes back on her treatments they will be changing her 'chemo cocktail'.  If I could will it to work I would.. I'm trying.  It is draining to say the least.  She's a trooper and fighting.  I talked to her again yesterday and she sounded better.  Can I have my sister back?  Completely back?

This weekend is going to be busy.  Work or pleasure?  I'm not sure.  LOL  A client of mine will be arriving in town later this afternoon.  Her husband and son.  We will go out to dinner for Italian.  YUM!   Maybe a few drinks and call it a night.  Should be a blast.  I've worked with her for years and have spent time with both her and her husband in the past.  Over the years we've become great friends.  This will be the first time meeting her son.  He was in the service and did several tours in Iraq and overseas.  Tomorrow we will be using the company club seats and going to the football game.  Bills vs Jets.  Work or pleasure?  LOL  If anyone knows football or has been paying attention, my Bills are in a state.  Eleven starters are out.  We are playing back ups, to back ups, to back ups.  You almost have to feel sorry for them.  No team can overcome injuries like that, but as fans we hope.  The day is suppose to be a gorgeous fall day.  Blue sky, sun, and temps in the mid 70's.  I hope so.  If today is a sign, the weathermen are right :)  I know being with my friends will be a blast, but the game seems to be out of reach.   Hoping they can at least keep it close.   I will take my camera, of course, we'll see how the shots come out.  So though it is work related it will be pleasure.  :)

Last night the boys played another preseason game.  They traveled to Pittsburgh to play the 'Guins.  Aaah the proclaimed God of hockey, Sidney Crosby.  He's a great player and I agree, but watching some of the game on the net was a little disturbing.  The league markets him and really goes out of their way to give him an extra advantage.  It may sound like sour grapes, but I swear it's true.  The officials have put him in a bubble and if anyone even goes near it a penalty is called.  GRRRRRRRR  In spite of it all the boys came out on top.  Once again Derek Roy played like a wild man, getting one assist and two goals.  One of those goals was with 28 seconds left in the game giving the boys a lead of 6-5.  The 'guins did not give up.  They swarmed the net and actually put the puck in the basket, but fortunately for us it was after time ran out and the gamewas over.  Final score Sabres 6, 'Guins 5.  The two match up again tonight here in Buffalo.  It will be the last preseason game...  and the real season begins on Friday.  YEAH BABY!!

I do hope everyone is having a fabulous day so far and I wish you a magical weekend.

Hugs

~ He's an Animal ~

DsDesignsDerekRoy.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

LOL, ok well know he's not, but last night he played like one.  Like a wild man.  A man on a mission.  In game 4 of the preseason the boys traveled across the bridge their rivals home.  The Toronto Maple Leafs were playing host.  So it's only preseason, who cares?  Apparently these two teams.  LOL  With only a couple preseason games left these guys played for bragging rights.  Both teams had most of their main roster in place.  Well, the Leafs seemed to be carrying more 'regulars', but who is counting?  I am damnit!  LOL  A little over a minute into the game we scored and I think it was just a glimpse of what was going to happen.  By the end of the second period Buffalo was up 2-0 and Derek Roy had assists on both goals.  That in itself is a nice stat.  The second period started and 37 seconds in the boys score again.  Jason Pominville buries it and then less then a minute later Vanek makes it 4-0, Roy assisting again!   A few minutes later there is a scrum, Toronto trying to light a fire under their butts.  While we are up on the power play the coach plays with the line up and puts more forwards out then normal.  It backfires and the Leafs score.  Making the score 4-1.  Ten minutes later, again they score while we are on the power play.  I like the aggressiveness of the coach, but I sure as hell hope he doesn't do that in the real season!  It's nice to have all offense on the ice, but it sure leaves you vulnerable if you make a mistake.  LOL  Before the period can end Derek Roy scores.  What a game he is having.  Four points, and I'm thinking he is an animal.  Period ends 5-2.  Third period, and less then 2 minutes in he scores again.  Holy Shit!  He is on a mission.  He wants more ice time, he has a point to prove.  He is on the way to ending the media frenzy over his new contract in the off season.   Five minutes later he scores again.  A natural hat trick!  Yeah baby!!  A hat trick is when a player scores 3 goals in a game.  When this happens generally the fans will throw their hats on the ice.  A natural hat trick is 3 goals in a row with no scoring in between.  The game wasn't on TV so not sure if any hats flew, but I doubt it we were on enemy ice :)  Way to go Derek a 6 point game and a Sabre win of 7-2.   Two more preseason games and then the real season starts.  A week from tomorrow.  I'm stoked and it can't get here soon enough for me.

It was announced today that Tep was released from the Cleveland Clinic after his heart surgery.  He is stating he wants to come back and is targeting December.  Damn what a love for the game, eh?  Surely he wouldn't be thinking that if the Doctors thought it not a good idea.   Time will tell if he can do it.

On a personal note I want to thank you all for your kind words regarding my last entry.  I'm still in a bit of a fog and trying to understand things, but my mouth is fine and work is fine.  Now if I could just make my sister fine I'd be thrilled.  The good vibes, thoughts, and prayers are so welcome.  I so appreciate the candles being lit as well.  As I read the messages I was brought to tears.  You guys rock.  Kim... thank you so much for including the gal pals.. you have no idea how wonderful that feels.  All these years and they have never let us down.  It brought me back to the day Gage was born they all rallied for him... and still do, they so rock.  You rock my friend!!!   Thanks again folks I so appreciate it.

~ The Day from HELL ~

              DsDesignsThingsareNot.gif picture by 55hockeyfan

Maybe I should have waited to offer that tag up?  Or, maybe by doing it I jinxed myself.  Either way today was the absolute pits!!!!  A day from hell!

Got up this morning to a beautiful day.  The sun was breaking over the houses across the street and the temperature was warm.  They were calling for a record setting day.  Believe me it broke several records and came very close to breaking my spirit.

Logged on this morning and went thru mail.  I went to go to a favorite and when I opened them up, to my amazement they were gone.  All but a few.  WTF?!?!   Then I remembered a goofy error last night that knocked me right off line.  I didn't check when I got back just went about my business.  That's the only thing I can think of.  AOL sucks so bad at times!!  No alerts, then this......... GRRRRRRRRRR

So here I am looking for all my sites, journals, everything.  I couldn't stick around, that fake job was calling..... soooooooo off I go.

Work starts out fine.  I will spare you all the details but all hell broke loose about noon.  Last week everyone in the department was asked about a procedure.  We gave our answers.  All was cool.  Today the department gets sent an email.  It was basically confirming what our process was, no big deal, but there is a whole thread.  I begin to read thru the entire thread.  It was very obvious the thread was amongst management giving the pros and cons of the procedure.  It had clearly been edited before being sent, but there hanging out there is my name.  Out of context it almost appeared I had done something wrong.  I questioned the sender who was embarrassed and very apologetic.  Sent an email to the department letting them know the error and apologizing to me.  It wasn't meant that way, and knowing the whole story I was fine with it.  Shit happens.  I'm in her office talking and when I get back to my desk I have 5-6 more emails.  Another manager from another department forwarded the same mail out to let them know the procedure.  I wanted to die.  The sender is in tears, I feel bad, folks are freaking out and want HR to do something about it.  WTF?!?!  It was an accident and if I was fine with it why wasn't everyone else?

I leave work early today.  Last Friday I started having a un-comfy feeling along my jar.  I think I need an adjustment and made an appointment with the Dentist for today.  All weekend it bothered me, but nothing too drastic.  It was tender and a bit swollen.  Late yesterday it started feeling better.  I didn't want to cancel the appointment because I know my luck.  I would and a day later the pain would return.  Felt so good I ate corn on the cob last night.  First time in years!!!  So I leave work and go to the dentist.  She feels around and then takes x-rays.  I'm a bit nervous about what they might find.  I've been great for months and had very few problems since the surgery last November.  I wait and wait.  She comes back into the room and shows me.  Points at this little spot and tells me it is a root tip.  It got left behind and is now festering and I have an abscess.  A year later????   She numbs me up, drains it and gives me antibiotics.  I have to go back in December for them to remove the tip.  I'm told it is not all that uncommon.  I leave with a slight throb and a headache.  Still a bit tender right now, but definitely feel the difference.  Thank God the is over, for now.

I get home about 6.  I call my sister to see how she made out today and discuss the shake.  Turns out she didn't get her treatment.  I talked to her husband and the day did not go well, she was sleeping.  I'm devastated and not in a position to say much more right now, not here.  Please, please just say an extra prayer for her.  I know I've asked for a lot but I am at wits end.  I can't change what is happening, I don't understand, my spirit is breaking and my faith wavering.  I look at the candles and want to light and light and light some more in the hopes that it will change the path..............  I wish I could make it burn forever...  that it could .. would change something.  I thank you for all you've given me, and I am so sorry I keep asking, I just don't know what to do..........

I tried to get to journals tonight, and I'm sorry I didn't make it to all........ just couldn't concentrate or comment.  I'm in a fog......   I know you'll understand.. and I promise to be by.

Hugs

~ I Could Cry ~

                   DsDesignsBloodyTear.gif picture by 55hockeyfan

Ok, so that's not entirely true.  I just thought the title went well with the first graphic.  Call me sick.  LOL  I love this time of year, and I just can't help myself when it comes to Halloween graphics.  Feel free to snag if you find one you like.

A beautiful day here in WNY, the sun was out and the air was warm.  You could hear end of the season yard work being done.   That was until about 1 in the afternoon and then it got quiet.  That lasted about 20 minutes, maybe.   The Bills played the Pat's today and it was horrible.  On the first play of offense our quarterback got hurt.  A cheap and what appeared to be very intentional shot to the knee.  He tried to stay in but you could tell he wasn't going to make it (he's most likely out a couple games).  In comes a rookie who has never played in the NFL before.  He leads the team to a touchdown and that was it.  It went downhill from there.  New England is good, really good, but I can't give them to much credit for today.  We were horrible.  Another defensive player got hurt, a broken arm.  That is 11 starters out in 3 games.  Eleven!!!  There are only 11 players on the field at one time..........   GRRRRRRRRRRRR

Now our team does not hit during training camp and I can't help but wonder if this is the reason so many are going down now.  That or they are extremely brittle and weak.  I don't understand how million dollar players aren't more in tune to the game they claim to love and have been playing for a lifetime.   Sure, you have freak accidents such as Everett's, but truth be told he lowered his head and knows better.  Not trying to take away from his injury and his long road to recovery but damn even I know you don't lead with your head.......... GRRRRRRRRRR  Drives me batty..........

                DsDesignsBatty.gif picture by 55hockeyfan

I think the final score was 100-7.......  LMAO  I, like so many others turned it off and went on to something else.

On a good note my boys played game 2 of the preseason.  It  was radio only, again.  Several starters were not playing but they were able to pull off a 3-2 win in a shootout.  It doesn't count for anything, but it's nice to have the first win under your belt.   Still playing a few of the young guns trying to make a name for themselves and make the big squad.  Hoping next week there will be a few televised so I can actually see them, but I don't think so.  Season opener is on Oct. 5 so it won't be too long.  Can't wait to see what's in Lindy's bag of tricks...........

~ Snags Before Bed ~

DsDesignsFallRain.gif picture by 55hockeyfan

Hope everyone had a great day today.  Mine was great, and I got all the laundry done!  LOL  Tried a different effect with the water.  The ripples are a bit big for the picture, but thought I'd offer it as a snag anyway.

                                        DsDesignsFallSidebarSnag.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

There was some confusion on what I was actually offering up on a earlier post and I wanted to try and fix it.. some what anyway.  I did do a new side bar, but what I was actually offering as a tag was the full graphic.  It's time consuming to personalize sidebars with more then a name.  So I decided to do a smaller version as a snag as is.  If you'd like it feel free.

Just a request on links.  I got an email earlier from someone who was trying to get to my old tag journal, D's Designs.  They thought it was open because they have been seeing the link in other journals.  Can I ask a favor?  Can you update it?  I appreciate the 'pimping' but that journal is still closed and all tag requests are being done here.  Thanks folks I so appreciate it!

~ Something to Crow About & Tag Offer ~

DsDesignsSomethingtoCrowAboutdonna.gif picture by 55hockeyfan

Mornin!  Ok, so now it's afternoon.  The days are just getting away from me.  I start with good intentions, but then one thing leads to another, then another, and before I know it I'm staring at the clock saying, 'what the hell??!'  I use to be so good at multi-tasking, but now I get lost and easily distracted.  Suppose it's old age?

So what do I have to 'crow about'?  LOL nothing really.  I just feel like all my entries have been offers lately, and I've written very little.  Yeah, yeah, I know some of you might like it better that way.  Not that I have much to say these days, work is work, and life is life.  I've been doing good, but my time lately seems to be so limited.  So what have I been doing?  Nothing, not a damn thing!  So where is the time going?   Some one please tell me!?!

A few updates...............   My brother is doing good.  He's still being treated for an infection in his foot, but he is walking and not in as much pain.  He has said he's always been in pain, so this is nothing.  He will need to see a specialist to have some work done, but knowing him he will put it off.  Random jobs and no health insurance does that.  It's a shame really, but he knows who to point at.

My sister is holding her own.  A prayer and/or candle never hurts, and I so appreciate it all.  I'd be lying if I said chemo is not taking a toll, but she is fighting this with all she has.  She takes full advantage of her feel good days, and we are doing what we can to have her be comfy and happy.  It's never enough though.  A magic wand would be the perfect solution, but alas not possible.

My Dad has had both eyes done now, and he is back to feeling like he's invincible..... if only!  Well, that is somewhat a lie.  He is better at admitting his limitations and taking advantage of us when he thinks he needs it.  Do we agree?  Hell no, we wish he'd do it more often.  :::sigh:::  Stubborn men!!!

My Mom?  Well she is a saint.  She holds it together like no other.  I guess she gets her strength from having 7 kids.  LOL  I know it takes a toll on her, but she never complains.  Or hardly......  she laughs a bit but I often wonder if that is what keeps her from crying.

I don't see my son as often as I'd like.  He spread those wings awhile ago and is soaring.  I am proud of him, but I miss him.  We talk on the phone but our schedules are out of synch so visits are few and far between.  He has laundry facilities at the apartment so those days are gone.  Hmmm...maybe that's a good thing?  LOL  Seeing how he would threw his stuff in the washer, talk for a bit, then leave to have me finish up...........  naah I miss him.. at least I got a few minutes a couple times a week then.

Thanks for all the nice comments and emails about my new sidebar.  I decided this morning I would do a little expansion on it and offer it up.  Just being silly.  If you'd like your name on it leave a comment.  Limit on this is back to 2.  It will expire on 9/24 Please pay attention to the expiration dates.  Though you may think 'what's one day?', I take the graphics off my computer as soon as they expire.  With the number of graphics I have, if I left them I'd surely crash.  I hate saying no, but I can't keep making exceptions, surely you can understand.  And no, this is not directed at anyone........ don't think that.  It's a general statement regarding what has been happening.  Private emails begging only make me feel worse.  I'm sorry if you miss something, and I'm not trying to be mean......... honest.

Ok, off to change loads and figure out what else can distract me today.  LMAO  Enjoy your Saturday... but you know I'll be back with something else...  I can't stop!

~ It Begins ~

DsDesignsitbegins.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

The fever has started!  Yeap, I listened to my boys for the first time this season.  It was preseason game #1.  Playing Columbus, who has already played 4 games.  We are late.  Tonight's game was radio only and with it preseason it was a bit difficult to follow.  Normally I can envision what is happening on the ice, but tonight we had only 4 starters playing.  The rest were guys from the minor league trying to make the squad.  Ryan Miller didn't play goal, instead we got our new backup.

It was great to hear the announcer, the crowd, the whistles, and of course the players.  I am so ready for this!  Ok, so tonight we lost 4-1, but like I said it was young guys and their first game.  Not a lot of highlights for me to relay this evening.  One major fight.  Young guys trying to show their stuff and make the squad, for both teams.  MacArthur scored our lone goal.  Exciting for him as he is from the minors.

Since both our captains left in the off season, we are in need of 'that' guy.  I am glad I am not the coach.  I can come up with a few that fit the bill.  Tonight Jochen wore the C on his jersey.  Good choice!  He speaks with his play and I feel he is way underrated.  He laughed in his post game news conference telling how the C fell off his jersey during the game.  I hope if he is chosen they sew it on a bit tighter.  Some how I don't think it will matter, the rest of the boys know him and his ability with or without the C.

Tep's heart surgery was Thursday and it's being reported all went well.  Not much detail on what was done, but they are speculating he had a valve replaced.  No word yet on whether he will try to come back or retire.  At 39 he has had a full career and with his history it wouldn't surprise me if he called it quits.

This morning Kevin Everett was taken by ambulance to the airport where he boarded a plane and headed home to Texas.  He will of course be in a hospital there, but he is progressing great.  He is regaining movement and they are saying they hope to have him standing in the next couple of weeks.  YEAH!!!!  Not sure how much we will hear now that he isn't local, but I will try to keep you posted.

Today was good day, but I would be lying if I said anything other then I'm so glad it's Friday and the work week is over.  I worked my ass off!!!   Mother Nature teased us with temperatures in the 80's and it is supposed to be a good weekend.  Tomorrow I am hoping to start my laundry early and get it done so I can enjoy the day!  I'm tired and thinking of calling it a night.  Hope everyone is good!

~ 7 Minute Robbery ~

    DsDesignsRobbed.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

Depending on what report you might read, it could have been as long as 20 minutes.  Yeap, at 7 minutes after 10 this morning all ticket outlets were reporting no tickets for the Ice Bowl.  Seven freakin minutes and 74,000 tickets gone.  So those of you that thought it was nuts to sit outside in Buffalo in January, think again.  Don't always believe what the media says about our weather, last year it was in the 60's during the month.

So......... with that said I was robbed.  I did not get tickets.  I am currently on a waiting list for the several thousand that they are holding for season ticket holders, but I am not optimistic about getting any.  Totally bummed.  I'd like to say I'm proud that the city of Buffalo came thru and bought them all up but I can't, not yet.  Though I know that stadium will be full.  The team owner is not really putting this on, the league is.  So I'm thinking Gary Bettman has screwed this city once again.  He was more concerned over the publicity for the league, and did not put a cap on the number of tickets available.  Go to any ticket broker on the net and you will see who got most of them, and of course selling them at a profit.  Tickets originally sold for $39 are now being sold for $250.  In the upper deck no less.  I don't think so!!  It's being said during the sale they realized what was happening and put a cap on the number, and it's said the most bought together were 34, but I'm not sure if I believe that.  I can't imagine the tickets will go at that price and there is a chance something might open up later......  The good and bad about the internet.

This is good for the sport and great for the city.  I'm looking forward to it, but I was a bit bummed.  Well, a lot bummed!!   That was 'til late in the afternoon when I was handed an envelope.  In the envelope was a check for $100.  Yeah Baby!!!  Someone I referred to join me in my fake job has been there over 60 days and the company had implemented a referral program just prior.  So I got credit.  Now my niece starts part time tomorrow so if she stays for 60 days I get another $50.  I'll take it!  I guess I will go shop and drown my sorrows.  LMAO  And no that had nothing to do with the meeting with the VP.. this was a surprise.

Hope everyone had a good day!

~ What Were They Thinking? ~

whatwheretheythinking.gif picture by 55hockeyfan

LMAO!!!  Ok, right off the bat I am NOT taking credit for the graphic, only the animation.  So what was the NHL and the Sabres organization thinking?  They didn't call me to animate the graphic?!?!  WTH??  ::evil grin::  So...... I grabbed it and animated it myself.

It's official!!  The Ice Bowl, or the 'Winter Classic' as they are calling it will be held in Buffalo on January 1, 2008.  They will set up the ice rink inside the Ralph (the football stadium).  The Pittsburgh Penguins will come to town to take on my boys.  I am stoked!!  Tickets are bit steeper then I thought they would be, but damn straight I will be on the horn at 10 am to get mine!  I wouldn't miss this for the world.  This is the sample of what it will look like.

sampleofralph.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

Of course the lower bowl seats will not be available.  At least the first few rows, as you won't be able to see over the boards and follow the puck.  I am hoping we can get seats on the higher side of that first available section.  I know the Ralph, and on a windy day you DO NOT want to be up in the upper deck.  Rain is a definite no no, but I will be fine in the cold :)  For this anyway.  OMG, did I say I'm stoked?  Wait 'til tomorrow when I have my tickets.

The evening absolutely got away from me.  I had a gazillion pieces of mail.  I decided to dump several graphic groups I'm in.  I just can't keep up with the mail, and with the evil eyes lurking to see what I use that I'm not supposed to I just don't have time to research each one.  I've been deleting more then I've been saving, yet the time it takes to go through mail just got out of hand. It's just not worth the frustration.

Work day was good.  Ok, it was great!  I had a meeting with the VP after several previous ones and the results are awesome!  It's confidential so I can't share here, but let me say I am a very happy camper.  After 15 years with the company I was reminded again why I stay.  :)

Damn, where did the day go???????????   I hope everyone had a wonderful day and I wish you all a great Tuesday.  Sleep well my friends.....   I know I will.

~ I bleed Blue & Gold ~

DsDesigns9-16-07.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

I woke up this morning to another very chilly day.  The difference today was the sky was bright blue with only a few white clouds.  The crispness in the air gave me added energy, I think.  So I got up and moved.  I called my niece to see what Gage was doing today.  Not a thing!  I asked him out on a date.

'Aunt Donna, is it at the arena?'

'Yes bud, exactly'

'Can we go to Sabre Tooth's house?' (a blow up jump house in concourse)

'Hmmm..  it's only practice bud, I don't think it will be open.'

'That's ok,  I will go.'

So there you have it, it's a date.  My little bud was going to the Sabre's open practice with me.  I picked him up and we headed downtown to the arena.  He chatted the whole way.  What you find out from kids.  LOL  As I drove and answered his questions I remembered all the times we did things together.  Not nearly enough now.  He reminded me of the 'corn man' I bought him.  I had almost forgotten.  Years ago, and I mean years (before his sister was born) we had taken a ride one fall day.  We stopped at a nursery to check things out.  The plan was to buy painted pumpkins, as it was the season.  Instead he found dried Indian corn that had extra's added.  A hat, boots, eyes, and of course a mouth.  He wanted it so bad.  I thought it was as ugly as sin, but for $2 I couldn't say no.  He treasured that thing.  Today he told me the whole story.  What a hoot!!!

We got to the arena and found our seats.  I was amazed at thenumber of folks there.  It wasn't full by any stretch, but it wasn't long ago the Florida Marlins had a whopping 300 people at a regular season baseball game, why bother?  We beat that number today without any doubt and it was a practice in the beginning of the preseason!   Gage loved it.  Ok, so did I!!  We watched them do their work outs, their drills.  He was amazed at how fast they were and how they stayed up.  For a couple million a year, they better!

It was chilly in there!  I know it always is, but today without the warmth of 18,000+ other bodies you felt it.  We sipped on Hot Cocoa and chatted.  I took pictures LOL surprised?  I grabbed one of him, close up or what?  That's what happens when you are sitting right next to someone.  He was so good!  Never asked for a thing.  We sat and watched, talked, and giggled.  We stayed for the first period of the scrimmage they had.  No one scored while we were there, but he had enough.  It was a good couple of hours.

Ok, so I took him to store and bought him a little something.  I couldn't help myself.  While there I also bought my son a T-Shirt.  He knows already so I guess saving it for Christmas won't be an option.  I'm surprised he didn't stop to get it already .

It was pretty much a sports day here.  I came home and watched football.  EEEeeeeewwww the Bills stunk up the joint!  They lost to the Steelers 26-3.  At first I thought they held their own, but then they fell apart.  I know they had a rough week with Everett, but they need to get their act together.  :::sigh:::  I'm not surprised at the loss, I didn't expect a good season this year.

Well, it's a bit late and I should get my fanny to bed.  Hope everyone had a great Sunday!!  I did.. hockey season has started and I bleed Blue & Gold :)

~ Simple Saturday & A Tag Request ~

DsDesignsMajesticFalldonna.gif picture by 55hockeyfan

I woke up this morning curled in my blanket and comforter.  I knew the temps were going to drop during the night, but I left my window open.  In my sleep I must have felt the chill and rolled into my cocoon.  I jumped out of bed and grabbed my thick fuzzy bathrobe and cuddled in it.  Rubbing my arms.  I could have closed the windows, but I liked the feel of the chill.  The smell of autumn early in the morning.  Dampness of the dew, and the scent of earth.  Damp dirt, maybe an earthworm.  As gross as it might sound I love that smell.  It's clean and pure.

The day wore on.  The sun never really came out.  At times you'd get a glimpse of bright blue sky but it didn't last long.  It was overcast and somewhat gloomy.  The temperatures never made it above 55.  As I did my chores in my big loose fitting sweats I was comfy and warm.  That is except for my hands.  My fingers prickled like ice.  Yes, I closed most of the windows.  I did leave a few opened a crack to hear and smell the rest of the day.  Lawn mowers going, leaf blowers, geese as they flew over head.  My neighbor had a fire going in his backyard clearing the twigs and leaves from his property.  The smell made every sense aware that fall is here.

With fall came a warm small meal since I am home alone.  Some years ago while shopping I found a Zatarain's mix.  After trying it once it has become a staple in my house.  It is wonderful, easy to make, and very quick.  I made Jambalaya this evening.  As I was waiting for it to cook, I played with some of my pictures.  Fall seemed to be the direction.  The more I did the more I loved it.  I played with the bird to get a transparent background.  No I did not animate it, just cleaned it so I could use it here.  I was very pleased with the finished product, and was looking forward to using it in this entry.

I left the animation going as I went and fixed a bowl for dinner.  The New Orleans seasoning warmed me inside and out.  A great meal for a chilly day.  I cupped the bowl in my hands so the heat would warm my fingers, the smell tickled my nose.  I could see the graphic and it whispered to me, 'use this as a tag request.'  I wondered if anyone would care, if anyone would want it.  The warmer I got from the Jambalaya the more I decided I would give it a try.  The pictures are the trees that are behind my house.  A touch of fall...........   majestic fall.  So while I drank a cup of Chai Honey Vanilla White Tea, I added my name to the sample.

It's a bit large to allow the spread of the wings, but if you'd like your name on it leave a comment.  Same rules apply.  Expiration date is 9/17/2007
