~ Just Tuesday ~

         DsDesignsIdontcare.gif picture by 55hockeyfan

Work was pretty good today.  It wasn't the easiest getting up and moving, but I made it.  I will have to admit they took care of things for me while I was out.  The switchboard operator cut my calls off at the pass.  Not one voice mail after a week.  My desk was clean except for several cards left for me.  I had checked email from home and took care of what needed to be done or passed it on and the rest I caught up on today.   I was pretty much in a cloud, but made it all day without a tear.  Lots of hugs, but no tears.   ::patting myself on my back::

Most know I'm close to the Canadian border.  The Canadian dollar is now worth more then the US dollar.  First time in a very long time.  Not far from my home is a fairly large mall.  Over the past few weeks the mall has been full of shoppers.  Sure holiday shopping has started but this has been ridiculous.  I have to say 80% of the cars have Ontario license plates.  What is more ridiculous is the trash in the parking lot.  I am not talking your everyday trash of fast food bags, cups, cigarette butts.  I am talking clothes and shoes.  I will not say all Canadian's are doing this, but lots are.  They buy merchandise at the store and then go to the parking lot and remove what they had on and put the new items on to avoid paying the duty when crossing back over the border, leaving the discarded items right there where they parked.  Some are wearing layer upon layer to avoid the duty.  Local news has interviewed several and they openly admit it.  'Everyone is doing it, it is common knowledge.'  Why not take the items to Goodwill?  Or put it in one of the many trash cans nearby?  Again, not saying all are doing it.  I'm just disgusted with those that are.  Come here and spend your money, that's fine.  Take your trash home or do something productive with it.  Can you imagine how bad it will get the closer it gets to Christmas?  GRRRRRRR

One day down and three to go.  Looking forward to Friday.  I will be taking my niece to the hockey game.  Last time we went we won 7-3.  Yeah baby!!!  Maybe their good luck charm will do a shout out and get them back on track.  We need a few wins!!

Well, this evening went by fast and it's time to get moving.  Hope everyone is doing good.   I will be turning on alerts a few at a time.... looking forward to catching up with all of you.

Hugs

I am glad work was good today. It was nice your co-workers looked after you. That is horrible how they leave their clothes and shoes in the parking lot. Some people just have no respect. I was reading the other comments before I commented and I lmao at stevie's. He is so funny, gotta love him. (((((((((hugs)))))))

Glad you were able to get back to work without tears.  You are a strong woman!  Don't think I could have done it.  How rude of the Canadians.  Just plain disrespectful!

oh my word!  It would never occur to me to do such a thing.  Like you said, at least use a trash can - WTF?  Local cops need to get out there and start fining people for littering.  That'll stop 'em

what a shame about the clothes they should fine them. have a good week

I think the security patrol should fine them all and report them to the border patrol.

It never amazes me what some folks leave lying around as trash Donna.I went shopping to another Town last saturday. The bins in the car park were empty.Yet I must have seen at least 12 babies diapers just dropped where cars had been parked.Too flipping lazy to get out the car and walk 10 mtrs to a bin.It boils my blood. They do not fold or put them in disposable diaper bags either, they just drop them on the floor ,out of the car door,as they are taken off the baby.Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.This about the Currency differance though is another thing.I agree go shopping,if you are grabbing a bargain, but take your rubbish home with you...........It's good to read that wrok didn't go down too bad and that everyone had a little compassion.......You look after yourself and Have another good day Wednesday I hope In my prayers .Take Care God Bless Kath

The hockey game sounds wonderful....that will be a great relief for you!!!
I did not realize that there were so many problems with canadians and the clothes stuff....when I lived in buffalo...I rarely saw canadian license tags....WOW...I hope all that gets under control...

Hi D,
I'm so glad you made your first day back to work. It's still early days yet so you take it easy lady. Funny you should mention the littering thing because my entry was going to be about it too.
Adrian and I went to Mc's for a burger yesterday,( thought we had earned one with days of decorating behind us and still more to come), while we were sat in the car eating, two young (men) sat in the car space next to us and started throwing their wrappers through the window.
As one of the lads threw the wrapper out, he turned to see Adrian and I glaring at him teeth gnashing, and cringed with embarrassment. The next thing they were BOTH doing it. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
Good job Adrian didn't have his Police uniform on or they would have both been sorry.
Hope to speak soon D. Loads o love sweetie   x x x x

I'm glad your first day back at work is over, I was hoping your co-workers would deal with your work while you weren't there, nice to know that happened. I have this strange image of Canadians in the car park ripping off their clothes down to their underwear! Maybe they should be filmed! People are very strange creatures aren't they; they could at least put their old clothes in a bin! Enjoy the hockey on Friday. Jeannette xx

I am so pleased to hear ,the folks at work had kept up with your work for you ,it would have been daunting to go back to a full in tray ,I am glad the day went ok ,be good to your self its still early days ,I can see why the people are not wanting to get charged ,but that is out of order dumping their clothes like that ,Take care ...love Jan xx

I am glad that your work was done for you while you were out. That trashing and wasting clothes is not a good thing to you. Everyone of them should get in trouble about it. Helen

Donna
I'm glad you made it through being back at work.  I'm amazed to read about the mess the Canadians are leaving in the shopping mall parking lot.  The local customs office needs to patrol that lot and take descriptions and license numbers then catch these smugglers at the border!  That would put a stop to that nonsense! I hope the boys win for you and your niece Friday night.

Thats crazy about the Canadians.  How much money are they saving by doing that?  Probably cheaper to buy in their own country!  Have fun at the game.. Linda

littering in any form drives me crazy too....maybe they should beef up security and start handing out tickets!  glad work went well and you're hanging in there.

Glad you had a fairly good day at work Donna.  As for Canadian shoppers, I as you know, love Buffalo and am Canadian.  From some of the comments, I must agree that I dont abide people leaving things behind in parking lots and I have seen this, when the dollar was good in the past.  I have never done this and because i had a Candian licence plate, one year a young woman decided she hated all us Canadians so she tried to run me down.  I urge anyone who wishes to shop in the States to please take your discarded articles and either put them in the trash or take them to bins provided for recycling clothes.  Surprisingly, I who am a very good shopper know very well that buying things in the States is so every much cheaper than in Canada and it really does pay to go and I am going on Black Friday and looking forward to it.  I do not discard my clothes, and if I go over the limit, I claim it.  Hope your Team wins on Friday.  Hope to see you in Buffalo when I come over.  Take care, God bless.

Glad your day at work went well.  I can't believe they leave their stuff in the parking lot.  I agree with you, they should do something productive with what items are left.

That was so nice of them at WORK to keep your stuff caught up.See there is nice people out there....Can't those people who dump thier old stuff just put it in a suitcase or overnight bag like they were here visiting, after all since it's not new  they wouln't pay duty.(reminds me of a Seinfeld episode when Kramer asks George-do you know how much duty is-hilariuos!!

I don't blame the Canadians for taking advantage of the favourable exchange rate, Donna, but they could at least look for a bin. Perhaps the malls should put some large skips out. I'm pleased you had a good day's work :-)

Anonymous said...

My oh my. If Goodwill has a spare collection unit they need to race over to that mall and put it near the parking spaces so these lazy asses will have a place to put their clothes. Such waste.....and how shameful.
I was watching Regis and David Boreanaz from "Bones" mentioned your team!! He is building his own hockey rink at his home and he said he went home and that the Sabres were playing. I almost fell off the couch hearing that. Did you see it? He sure is handsome.
So glad your coworkers stepped up to the plate and were there for you...you are so loved and beloved, D.

It still amazes me how uncaring humans can be, especially when it is not their town, their home or whatever. Uggh..Anyway, I can see that you're milling through your days. And I wish I could say something that would make you smile...

POSSIBLY THE VERY BEST CHICKEN JOKE EVER

A chicken and an egg are lying in bed. The chicken is leaning
against the headboard smoking a cigarette, with a satisfied
smile on its face.

The egg, looking a bit pissed off, grabs the sheet, rolls
over,  and  says, "Well, I guess we finally answered THAT question."

Ciao Bella....Brenda

It sounds like you work with a great bunch of folks who care for you.  How disgusting about the trash at the mall.  You are right, imagine what it will be like closer to xmas...it will look like a landfill.  Take care,

Happy to hear your co-workers took care of things for you; and that you made it through the day w/o a tear.

That's just wrong, what those people are doing with their old clothes.  It's disgusting in many ways.  Can always hope they get caught.  *wink*

What a sheer waste of good clothes!  There should be a skip container placed in these carparks so that the clothes can go to a thrift shop or Oxfam.  It's unbelievable what folks get up to for the sake of saving a bit of money.  Glad to hear that you are off to watch a hockey game with your niece...looking forward to hearing all about it.

Hi Donna hun, *hugs* Thats wonderful they took good care of u at work. Even though i can imagine it must have been tough to get up and go this a.m. But u made it thru the day with no tears, i am giving u more *hugs* and admire u for that. Thats good they took care of ur calls for u, held out on leaving u too much stuff on ur desk. But thats wonderful u recieved some cards though. I had no idea now the canadian dollar is now more worth then the us intresting. I didnt know either really u lived so close by the border, wow thats neat. Wow thats crazy the malls have been bomarded with canadian shoppers. I know when i used to livei n orlando, aka Mickey land, lol. The malls, theme parks, everywhere there canadians visited and also of course ppl from england, spain etc. I am not surprised as u said they would change out of there clothes and put their new ones on. I have seen that happen, lol. I agree with u hun i really do. They should donate the clothes to goodwill or give it some1 who may need it, dont trash it. geez what is wrong with some ppl? Thats just crazy. Anyhow about the game i am crossing my fingers for ru boys. A night out sounds good for u and great ur niece is going too. I look fwd to u catching up with us too. I'm glad to hear that they were looking out for you at work..That's nice..
Wow. I never thought I'd hear about something like leaving your old clothes behind...Couldn't they just have taken the clothes back with them? They sure wouldn't appear new..not if they could throw them away without a thought..As you said, there is always goodwill..Hell,I've been to Canada and know first hand that there are plenty of homeless people that would love some extra clothes..It's a shame that they didn't think about that...
Hugs, Sheri

Hmmmmmmmmm........I can see why you are getting annoyed at the canadians, but I'm glad work went okay :)

WOW.............. Thats unbelievable.......... tehre must be many associations/homeless people or charities that could make use of those items of clothing..... seems such a shame to just discard them like that.

I am glad that you got through the day ok......... you deserve more than a pat on the back....WELL DONE

Hope the rest of the week flies by for you. Enjoy the game and i hope that your team win  :o))

That is nuts!  Why would they do that?  I mean, I understand they're trying to avoid taxes....but take your clothes to the Goodwill before you go back into Canada!  That's incredibly wasteful.  Not to mention a little tacky.

Congratulations on getting through your first day of work.  It was nice of your fellow co-workers to have your desk all cleared off.  :)

Love,
B

I am happy to hear they took care of things for you so that you weren't slammed coming back to work. As for the mall situation, some people just don't give a crap, what a perfect opportunity to donate and they don't.  My fingers are crossed for a win on Friday! Take care of you my friend,
Katie

Glad things at work were kept under control while you were away...that is just crazy that people would leave clothes right where they parked....they need to be fined then maybe it will stop!  Hope you have a restful night...beautiful graphic!
