AOL Community Photo Challenge - March into Spring {Advanced}

This week's challenge is MARCH INTO SPRING...Is spring popping up in your neighborhood? Daffodils and crocuses popping up through the snow? However spring is arriving (or did in the past, if you're still snowbound), share it with us!

 

I wasn't going to do this one, but a friend talked me into it.  Not because I think I'll win, and surely that wasn't what they thought either..... but I took the shot so I'm sharing :)

 

Up until this weekend it had been cold and I had mounds of snow on the ground.  Nothing even close to 'March into Spring' appeared.  I have pictures of flowers, of creeks, all kinds of things, but they are old and most likely were really not taken in spring anyway.  Then on Sunday the temps hit the 30's.  Yes, down right balmy here.  As I came into the house I was dripped on by an icicle hanging off the garage.  I wanted to look up but all that came to mind was Ralphy in the Christmas Story.  His fabricated story of an icicle falling off the house and breaking his glasses.  (If you've never seen the movie, make it a must see during the holidays.  It's a hoot!)  Anyway, I came in the house and wondered if I could actually capture a shot of the drop falling.  What better form of spring then to see the ice actually melting?  It took several attempts but finally I was able to get it.  :::patting self on back:::  Just ignore the dirty soffit and fascia of the garage.  Eewwww  Today the temps hit low to mid 60's.   Can you say heat wave?  Still snow, and the mounds on the side of the roads are black with soot and have revealed garbage that has been thrown about.  Disgusting!!!  No worries, they are calling for cold temps and more snow so it will be covered again by Wed.   I really wish Spring was Marching in!!!

What a creative artistic idea!  That took patience and skill!
You ought to win something!  This is VERY good!

I wish spring were closer.  It won't be long before Easter is here.  Then it'll really feel like spring.

gorgeous picture---winter sure seems to be hanging on. Just love the picture of the icicle and u did a great job of it dripping--absolutely amazing! I have  heard so many people say they are ready for Spring to come and to see some flowers..me included. By the way, March 9th we change our clocks to Spring ahead--woo hoo--now just bring out the sun! Hugs and have a great week at work.

After reading your 94 comments, I kinda get an idea.  I missed that one so I don't know if this applies:

I like the concept behind this photo and I love the execution. To go out and shoot what happens to be available is one thing.  To plan to shoot a certain object, plan for that particular shot, and then execute the plan is a totally different experience.  To achieve sucess in this kind of shooting environment really gives one a sense of accomplishment.  This is a great photograph prefectly executed and professionally displayed.  Well done!  I'm really glad you decided to enter this one!

Sometimes I forget how bad that dirty sooty snow looks.  I think being in JLand has helped me "put on my clarity glases"  to view what others endure.  Whether, it be cold, illness, a death, or any of the other challenges of life.
