~ Evening ~

DsDesignsFriends.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

Hello, hello, hello.  I can't believe the weekend is over and the work week once again starts tomorrow.   I hope the weather holds on...  tho it wasn't anywhere near the mid 80's of yesterday it was still a good day.

The benefit last night was very nice.  Several hundred people showed up and it was nice to see people who had left the company and moved on to other things.  One even came back from Baltimore specifically for our friend.  There were about 150 baskets for the Chinese auction and I was lucky enough to win one.  A smaller basket filled with lotions and body soap.  LOL  I will be giving it to my sons girlfriend.  I actually put tickets in for her :)  For those that don't know about a Chinese auction, it is a great money maker if you have a benefit.  Folks donate baskets.  Could be filled with anything, and can be any size.  The baskets last night probably ranged from$10-$15 to over $100.  You sell tickets, the buyer keeps one half and the other half goes into the bin for the basket of your choice.  The tickets then just get picked... if your number matches, bingo you win the prize.   I'm thinking they made a good chunk of money to help with the soaring bills, and that is what it's all about.  She was able to make it... looked good.  Tired, but good.

I used a scrap kit on the above tag.  Feel free to snag it.  I saw it, and thought it was so damn cute.  All digital scrap kits I've come across are compatible with PSP.  I love using Paint Shop Pro for it's versatility.  I can edit and create for my own pictures as well as make tags with or without animation.  For animation I do need another program, but it's perfect for me.   I've seen and heard several folks looking for programs to use with their digital camera's.  I guess it totally depends on what you want to do or accomplish.  I am limitedin my knowledge of other programs and if you can add tubes, embellishments, or scrap designs.  I suggest you ask around and figure out what you want :)  If you have questions on PSP feel free to ask, though I am not the expert I will do my best to answer.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Hugs

~d

Maybe I missed it in an entry somehow, who are you raising the money for this time in the Chinese auction?  I mean which charity?  I wanted to do this, but I have to find out the law in my state.  Or maybe county.  Some places make you buy licenses some don't.  Also it depends on if the bldg. you are doing it in already has a license - for instance Knights of Columbus already does (Catholic)  -so we would just hold it there.  I am very frustrated, because one cancer organization that I wanted to raise money for has not gotten back to my despite the fact that I said I wanted to do fundraising.  Another one has kind of brushed me off also.  One is national the other is local.  Good grief.  I have more I could help (when John is feeling better and so am I).  I want to give to some cancer organization.  Good grief.  I have lots of choices, LOL.

we have been having alot of benefits in our little community lately, some for people, but most for Relay for Life (cancer fundraising) At the shop we are having a motorcycle run on the 26th with food & door prizes. Last year we raised quite a bit.

Here's to a GREAT week.

What a wonderful concept for a fund raiser!  It must be bittersweet tho, having a great cause for a wonderful person, but knowing the reason behind it, it's so sad, when will they ever find a cure for those terrible terminal illnesses!

I use paint shop pro 8 and animation shop and I love the scrap kits from journaling delights and the browser that stores them, but I haven't played with it for about 2 years.. seeing your tags makes me want to start making tags again!!

Have a wonderful day/week Donna!
Hugs,
Darlene :)

How cool you were able to get something at the auction!! I love the tag....such sweet froggies :) After my last PC crashed, my Hubby "thought" he was buying me the same PSP program I had before....just updated. NOT! I have PSP Photo X2 and I HATE it!!! I don't take a lot of pictures, and for making simple tags like I like to do, it's a PITA. I'd like to switch it when I get a chance....UGH!

Love & Pooh Hugs,
Linda

I've never been to a Chinese Auction, slthough I have heard of them.  Seems like "Silent Auctions" are mostly done around here.  But, then Clearwater/Palm Harbor is separated from the rest of the world by Tampa.  No kiddding, when I moved here medically this area was 5-10 yrs behind the rest of the country.  congrats on getting a basket..I imagine its posssilbe for people to get more than one.  Thank you for you help witht the PSP.  I didn't think I'd be interested in digital scrapbooking, but the kits have lots of cute papers and doo-dads and all the colors coordinate. : )  Bethe
