~ Good Morning ~

DsDesignsHarvest.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

As I sit here typing the temperature is a balmy 75, the high today is suppose to be in the mid 80's.  The smell of summer is in the air.  My windows are wide open, the birds are chirping, though I don't see them.  LOL  That lens you know!?!  The occasional varoom of a motorcycle as it passes by.   The grass if finally getting green.  A far cry from that in the picture that I took a week or so ago.   I should go back and see what I find in this very spot today.   We'll see if I have time.   I have a few errands to run and then later today I have a benefit to go to for a co-worker.  She had breast cancer a few years ago and it has come back.  Metastasized elsewhere in her body.  So far she is holding her own, but the medical bills are soaring.

It was a pretty busy week at work, and I am thrilled it's the weekend.  The highlight of the week was dinner with my son and his girlfriend on Thursday.  We met at a local place.  One he worked at years ago.  His first job actually, a dishwasher.  LOL  The food is excellent, the atmosphere pleasant, and the price is right!    We sat and talked and laughed.  Belly laughs.  It was awesome and way overdo.  He picked up the tab, and as I saw what he tipped, I told him the waitresses no doubt love when he walks in and most likely fight over his table.  His girlfriend informed me he always tips well.  Makes me proud.  He learned to tip like that from his days at the car wash.  He didn't make minimum wage and those kids depended on tips to get their pay up there, so anytime a tip is in order he makes sure he takes care of them.   Especially if the service is good.

I've had a few emails/comments regarding the games.  My boys are not in it, but I've been watching as much as I can.  It's a best of 7 series so only a few are done.  I've listed where teams stand as of now so you can see how you are doing.  When the series is over I will post another poll for the next round, be ready!!!!

Montreal -3

Boston -2

Philadelphia -3

Washington -1

Penguins -4 (advance to next round)

Ottawa -0

NY Rangers -4 (advance to next round)

New Jersey -1

Detroit -3

Nashville -2

San Jose -3

Calgary -2

Colorado -3

Minnesota -2

Dallas -3

Anaheim -2

I've also had some mention about my 'I love NY' postcard.  Keep in mind folks, I am not in New York City.   I am at the complete other side of the state.  Probably a good 7 hour drive away.   There are tons of beaches here, hills, ski resorts, and lots of farms too.   Though winters can be brutal the seasons are great.  Spring, summer, and fall, have some beauty you can find no place else.  I swear!

Off to get moving and enjoy the day!  Have a great Saturday.

Hugs

~d

I knew you weren't by the city (Buffalo right?) Way long ago a friend & I went to the city and then drove to see her brother at an Army base (don't remember the name) then went to the 1000 Islands which was VERY COOL...I don't know where that is in relation to you, but I did like that part of the state. The city was nice (as we were in our 20's) but I liked the country side better.

Have a great Saturday.

People do tend to think of New York City when New York is mentioned.  I know upstate NY is beautiful as I am from New England (born in Bangor Maine) and lived a few years in Connecticut.  Aside from the winters, it's a hard place to beat for beauty.  Enjoy your day.

... looks like the Wings are going to wobble through this one ... Nashville is tough ... or are the Wings soft ..?  Even when we had Shanny, we've never really had that big power forward or center ...

Glad to hear that the weather is getting better Donna!
As for the tipping, good for your son!  My daughter is 29 and has been waitressing since high school and I can tell you that there are some great people out there who appreciate good service.  As for me, because she worked hard, I always notice when I get good service and leave hefty tips, but watch out if the service is lousy, lol.. they won't get sh*t..

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Isn;t that funny people think NY is only NYC.  I always say I am from Northern New York.  Even though I lived in the Mohawk Valley (and Lake George).  I didn't know until my brother moved to Nyak, NY that Suffolk County is what people from NYC considor upstate.  Geeezzzz.....
It's been warminer in PA and NY than here in Florida the past few days.  Glad for you though...you all deserve it! hugs,  Bethe
