~ Dog Days of Summer ~

DsDesignsDogDaysofSummer.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

It's nice to be off!  Getting up and not having to rush to get out the door is a magnificent thing.  I slept in a little bit and when I got up, I relaxed with my cup of coffee.  Ok, so a few cups.  LOL  I love my java!

Yesterday was a great day.  We got to the cottage a bit after noon.  As we pulled up, the clan was walking back up from the beach.   They were looking to make lunch and sit in the shade for awhile.  The beach was extremely crowded, it always is on the weekend.  There are a couple beach bars there and is a favorite hangout for the summer.  Apparently there was a swimsuit contest as well.  Ohh boy.. you know the guys were there with drool dripping.  LOL

The set up for the cottage was great.  There were four families and the 4 cottages were side by side and back to back, like a square.  A gathering place between them with a fire pit, picnic tables, and room for the kids to play.  We had burgers, dogs, chips, and snacks.  A stand or sit kind of lunch.  A few ice cold drinks hit the spot.

Sitting and talking I couldn't help but look at Tyson (Renee's dog) and think, 'dog days of summer.'  It was perfect!  Laying, looking, eating, and drinking.  What a life!!!  Bug, well she was her precious self!!  My sister Pat had a few trinkets for dress up.  They were used as prompts for one of the door prizes at her benefit and she had them in a bag at her house for the perfect time to give to 'Bug'.  Yesterday was perfect.  She wasted no time getting in her little get up, shoes included.  She walked around the whole time with the shoes, boa, purse, and jewelry.  She's a hoot!!  Amazes me, but she can run in those dress up slides.  Doesn't miss a beat.  I have a helluva time just walking in them!!

We never actually made it to the beach.  It was hot and the kids were a bit cranky after being there all morning.  Family members were coming and going so we just stayed put.   The shade from the trees and the breeze coming in off the lake made for a comfortable spot.  It was enjoyable and refreshing.

Steve doesn't work until 11 this evening and we thought we'd take a ride out for a couple hours, but I spoke with him a bit ago and he has a few things he wants to get done around the apartment.  Like hang the clock.  LOL  I woke up with a slight headache, and sitting in the sun doesn't sound real appealing right now.  We'll play it by ear and see what happens.  It's wonderful not having a set schedule!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  I'm off to get another cup of 'joe' and read a few journals.  I can do whatever I want, whenever I want....  the dog days of summer........

Hugs

~d
