~ On the Road Again ~

             DsDesignsTreeStump.jpg picture by 55hockeyfan

Had another business trip this week.  Off to Rochester to visit a client and friend.  I met her through business but over the years we've become very good friends.  She is moving on to another job so I went to meet the new person and go over some things.  We went to a nice bar and grill for lunch.  I grabbed some pictures of us before leaving and I couldn't resist the tree stump that stood off to the side.  I thought it looked so out of place, yet so in place if that makes sense.  I did do a little editing.  I decided to layer it and make the picture black and white with the exception of the stump and ivy.   The original colors were not too far off, but I still had to play.  LOL

I am feeling better, but only after a rough week.  It seemed to take days to get my strength back and feel as tho I could eat what I wanted.   Whatever that bug was it wasn't pretty.   I have heard several other folks have come down with it too.  GRRRRRRR  I better not get it back!!

Guess what I did this morning?   Go ahead, guess.  LOL  I watched hockey on the Internet.  It wasn't a game but rather my boys practicing.  They also unveiled their new alternate jersey.  They won't wear it full time, but damn I wish they would!   It's an edited/updated version of our original jersey.  The blue is much darker then the original to match the blue now.  I love it and will be purchasing one in no time, count on it!  It was amazing to watch them play and got me so excited about the upcoming season.   The team was tweaked a bit in the off season and I have high hopes.   Thursday we got the news that Jason Pominville was resigned for 5 years.  Whuuuuuuu Huuuuuuuuu  so the core is in place.  No distractions going into the season.   First preseason game is Monday, though some other teams started today.  What a great feeling to go to nhl.com and get scores.   They don't mean anything yet, but just the same it was great!

I've been trying to keep with journals and visits, but I haven't been on here as much.  Just things here and there.   Nothing urgent, nothing wrong.   No doubt when the weather turns we will all be here more.  Speaking of weather, today it was in the high 70's.  I stopped at my parents for a bit.  The kids were there too, and in the pool.   OMG!!   Swimming at the end of Sept in Buffalo, who'd of thunk it?!?!  They were in and out as the water was cold.   Hell we had frost warnings only a couple days ago.   They didn't seem to mind.   The last hurrah so to speak, the cover goes on this week.

Hope everyone is doing well.  I'm off to catch the news and then to bed.

Hugs

In the pool in the 70's? Gotta love kids, lol. It's 57 here tonight and going down to 51 they say. But low 80's tomorrow and our last really warm day. I love the cooler days and nights. I'm glad your feeling better. I think my SIL has the bug. He's been sleeping all day and doesn't want to eat. (((((((((hugs))))))))
Love ya,
Cindy xoxo

I'm glad you are getting over your bug.  Hockey isn't my favorite sport, thought my Stars did win the cup.  I'm a Cowboys fan mostly and of course a Texas Longhorns fan.  Football first for me.  Enjoy your Sunday.

Glad to hear you're feeling better; I think I had some sort of bug this week, just felt "blah" the last 2 days, and drained.

I liked the effect you used on the stump, I wouldn't have believed anything was done to it, I like the look of a weathered gray-wood fence and the gray rock wall; the uniform top does look sharp, very sharp.

Another summer, come and gone.  Hard to believe, isn't it?

I'm REALLY hoping neither of my kiddos pick up that stomach bug that's going around here too.  I've been dosing them with vitamin c, hoping to build up their immune systems.

Hope you're having a good weekend!

XOXO,
bridgett

If you hadn't told us I'd never known you edited the photo of the stump. I'm so glad you are feeling better and I hope you don't get the bug again too. I don't even want to think about winter, blah.

The tree stump makes perfect sense, LOL.  Good thing you took the picture, it tells a story.  I don't know which came first, the porch/stoop or the stump.  I am guessing the porch.  Okay, so like, there once was a building/house/whatever, and it needed a stoop.  The stoop was put in place.  Alongside it one day grew a little tree shoot.  The tree shoot grew big and tall.  One day it began to overpower to the porch/stoop.  It had to be cut down.  The tree stump both belong there and doesn't belong there!  Belongs there b/c it had to be cut down b/c it was in the way.  Doesn't belong there because it WAS in the way, LOL.  You see, it tells a story.  About the distraught person, who probably watched it daily, and thought, WHEN am I going to cut that thing down?  HOW am I going to cut it down?  It is sad to have to cut it down!  Are the roots under the building?  Surely they are!  Perhaps the roots busted the foundation and the person finally wised up.  Did he do it himself or hire somebody?  Whichever, it wasn't a manual saw!  It was a serious job!  Where did the tree fall when it timbered?  Anyway, there was a big story here, with lots to wonder about!

That is wny I love your pics donna.  They ALWAYS tell a story, or leave you to wondering about the story!  Your photos mean so much to me!  I love photos that tell a story!  Yours are superior.  I think it is time you started just a photo blog!

Okay, Donna, you emailed me and told me my tree stump story wasn't true.  There was no porch there , but instead a brick wall that ran alongside a parking lot. So I thought I would give you another scenario:

Parking lot -- enclosed.  Who knows why!  That is a curious one in and of itself.  Donna, if you know let me know why!  Now the stump.  That is what we want to reflect on.  Again we will think about the stump - LOL - just because everything I see makes me think - especially things in photos!  A tree taken down.  Cut down, no doubt by a professional company.  How do we know?  It is cut so smoothly!  And why would they want to make sure it is cut down so carefully?  Well, let's discuss.   No doubt the tree started out tiny, as a fledgling.  Got bigger.  I'm sure it wasn't planted there -- it just sprouted up.  Perhaps it was an oak.  It became tall and magestic.  Then acorns and bird droppings began to drop on cars, LOL.  People grumbled about the big oak tree, and nobody wanted to park under it.  The roots began to grow and tear up the parking lot.  Then branches during storms and high winds would break off and whack cars!  The tree began to be thought of as a menace!  It began to be thought of as a real menace when it got to be really big.  What if it fell on a car?  Or person?  The tree was now though of as a danger!  True or no, it was cut down in the prime of it's life!  Now it is just a stump!  But a pretty live stump at that!  It is not really dead!  It supports ivy!  It won't give up it's life...

It's been in the high 70s to low 80s here in PA.  Nights are getting really chilly and the tree leaves are starting to change colors.  Enjoy your week.
