~ Simple Saturday & A Tag Request ~

DsDesignsMajesticFalldonna.gif picture by 55hockeyfan

I woke up this morning curled in my blanket and comforter.  I knew the temps were going to drop during the night, but I left my window open.  In my sleep I must have felt the chill and rolled into my cocoon.  I jumped out of bed and grabbed my thick fuzzy bathrobe and cuddled in it.  Rubbing my arms.  I could have closed the windows, but I liked the feel of the chill.  The smell of autumn early in the morning.  Dampness of the dew, and the scent of earth.  Damp dirt, maybe an earthworm.  As gross as it might sound I love that smell.  It's clean and pure.

The day wore on.  The sun never really came out.  At times you'd get a glimpse of bright blue sky but it didn't last long.  It was overcast and somewhat gloomy.  The temperatures never made it above 55.  As I did my chores in my big loose fitting sweats I was comfy and warm.  That is except for my hands.  My fingers prickled like ice.  Yes, I closed most of the windows.  I did leave a few opened a crack to hear and smell the rest of the day.  Lawn mowers going, leaf blowers, geese as they flew over head.  My neighbor had a fire going in his backyard clearing the twigs and leaves from his property.  The smell made every sense aware that fall is here.

With fall came a warm small meal since I am home alone.  Some years ago while shopping I found a Zatarain's mix.  After trying it once it has become a staple in my house.  It is wonderful, easy to make, and very quick.  I made Jambalaya this evening.  As I was waiting for it to cook, I played with some of my pictures.  Fall seemed to be the direction.  The more I did the more I loved it.  I played with the bird to get a transparent background.  No I did not animate it, just cleaned it so I could use it here.  I was very pleased with the finished product, and was looking forward to using it in this entry.

I left the animation going as I went and fixed a bowl for dinner.  The New Orleans seasoning warmed me inside and out.  A great meal for a chilly day.  I cupped the bowl in my hands so the heat would warm my fingers, the smell tickled my nose.  I could see the graphic and it whispered to me, 'use this as a tag request.'  I wondered if anyone would care, if anyone would want it.  The warmer I got from the Jambalaya the more I decided I would give it a try.  The pictures are the trees that are behind my house.  A touch of fall...........   majestic fall.  So while I drank a cup of Chai Honey Vanilla White Tea, I added my name to the sample.

It's a bit large to allow the spread of the wings, but if you'd like your name on it leave a comment.  Same rules apply.  Expiration date is 9/17/2007

Wow.  I can't believe how all the leaves have already turned in NY! It's still very green here.  Usually October is our big 'colorful' month.  It's my favorite time of the year, by far.

That tag is beautiful and I'd love one with Bridgett and Janya, please.

BTW...I TOTALLY understand your love of that fresh autumn air.  There's nothing like it.  I love cuddling in clothes, drinking cider, and building fires.  Ahhhhhhhhh!

Well, I guess it's pretty obvious I love fall....my daughter's name is Autumn.  LOL

XOXO,
bridgett

Hey Girl!   You know, your description of fall has just made me long for it to get here!    Here in the deep south, we often have warm Novembers and even December at times...... during fall, I think that's my favorite season, but then, come spring, I change my mind and think spring is my favorite.   I love the graphic!     Would you do me one with "Meg" on it?

Your graphic is a pretty as any I've seen in your journal. I love fall. And I love those smells you spoke of. Unfortunately the bad thing about fall is that my allergies have me all clogged up. Couldn't smell those smells if my life depended on it.

We love Zatarain's Jambalaya here and also dirty rice or something like that.  We mix hot sausage with it sometimes.  Megan puts chicken in it also sometimes.  Yum.  Love your fall pictures and the crow.  Love ya, Chris

Wow, I can't believe the temps are going down and Fall has actually arrived.  It is hotter that a cat on a tin roof in Tampa Bay Area.  I won't even go to the beach in this weather (although the weatherman says the temps are going to drop to the high 80's by the end of the week).  I reaaly do wish I could be up in New York during the summer and fall, I miss hiking, mountians, lakes (that have no aligators) sooooo bad.  And I miss the photo ops. Take more pics....I need my NY fix.
