~ And the Winner Is................ ~

    DsDesignsDerbyWinner.jpg

Today was actually a pretty good day.  I won't lie.. I cried a couple of times but quickly gained my composure.   That is going to happen from time to time I'm sure.  I thank you so much for your love and support.  I appreciate it.. more then words could ever say.   I'm seeing so many good people.

After work today I went to the Pinewood Derby for Scouts.  Yeap,  Gage and his Dad made his car and the big event was tonight.  His scout troop is fairly small but let me tell you it sounded like there were a hundred kids there.  Excitement filled the air as they prepared to start the race.  When all was tallied they had a tie and had to have a 'race off'  both cars ran head to head down the track.  They switched lanes and ran again.  Tie!  Can you believe it?  They tried again on other lanes and same thing.  The timer was broke, but the kids didn't care they had a blast.  After several more attempts to break the tie, they decided to award two 1st place trophies.  Let me tell you Gage was thrilled.  He didn't care he had to share the title (nor did the other boy) he was just proud of his trophy.

I spent a good portion of the rest of my evening talking on the phone, and doing his graphic.  Can't always be 'bug' ya know?  I have a couple of 'spring' graphics but I will give him an entry of his own.  Only fair.

I hope everyone had a good start to the week...  I'm off to bed.  Thanks again for being there for me...

Hugs

Cute pictures, good for him, he did well.  My grandson was in the Derby also, I'm sure this is a tradition, I remember my boys doing it as well.  Josh's car came in last and he was very sad.  But he got first for paint job, which he directed his mother how to do, so he ended up happy.  Joni

Well done Gage, so glad that you enjoyed your evening,  Love the graphic that you have done,
hey, dont worry about crying, your only human after all,  its better to let the tears flow when you need to than to hold them back and bottle everything up,

Way to go, Gage! Congratulations on your win.  Donna, that's a really neat graphic you did of Gage.  What a fun event the pinewood derby is.  There is the fun of building the scale model, then the thrill of racing it.  I love this kind of stuff!

I just read the diagnosis for your sister and am going from here to light a candle for her.  I got so distracted with Doc's celebration of the 17th of March, I did not get there the last two days.  Now I feel she needs one lit for her more than ever, as she will need all the support she can get in the weeks to come.  My sister-in-law had pancreatic cancer, which was a source of great grief for her ten children.  But she still managed to survive quite a long time going through a lot of different treaments designed to prolong her life.  My own sister Ann developed a rare cancer of the pancreas that required removing her pancreas completely to save her life, it was so far advanced.  I can't tell you what anxiety we went through.  But she has been 10 years now with diabetes but a pretty good quality of life other wise.  So as I said I knew where you were coming from when you asked for prayers for your sister!  She has been the best support i have ever had, for many years.  An angel on earth if there ever was one.   Aside from that this graphic is just darling.  I was so pleased to see such a great one for a boy winning a tophy.  It was just so cute. You look very motherly, too, and bespedacled like a hard working graphic artistist. Gerry  http://journals.aol.com/gehi6/daughters-of-the-shadow-men.

Gage, that is sure one beautiful racer, I know since I helped build about eight of them and was a judge and timer in many of the races. I was so good they left me keep the track in my basement for about five years. WTG, Bill

CONGRATS Gage!!!!  I remember those derby races from when my brother was in the Scouts.  Pretty cool cars.  You made a beautiful graphic that can be printed out and framed so Gage can have it forever.  Hope today finds you well.
Love you,
Lisa
