~ Local Boy Makes Good ~

DsDesignsLocalBoyMakesGood.jpg

For the first time in NHL history the number 1 draft pick is from Western New York, Buffalo to be exact.  Congratulations Patrick, an honor well deserved!  It's very exciting to hear this news.  My father is very good friends with Patrick's grandpa, and as this season rolled on and the draft got closer and closer my father, who never in his life was a fan of hockey became more interested.  Ok, so I'm sure having the Sabres do so well helped, but I honestly think watching Patrick grow is what got him.  All the chats with 'grandpa' during their weekly coffee get together.

Though Patrick stated he would love to play in Buffalo, that wasn't going to happen through the draft.  Buffalo didn't even have a first round pick.  Chicago had number 1 and wasted no time grabbing him.  He will be playing for one of the original six teams in the league, which I find cool.  Hockey is not like football and draft picks rarely make an impact the first year.  It usually takes a few more years of development to break into the league.  Either way how exciting for him and his family.  A life long dream has come one step closer to being reality.

It's always nice to watch a young local lad make good.  His family WILL be proud of him and your granddad too.   Looking forward to hearing more about him in time.   Jeanie

Wow! That is just great, for a local boy. Bet your Dad will have lots to talk about with Patrick's grandpa, as the hockey season progresses. I saw some of the draft-pick stuff on the local news, but hubby is falling behind in that department. Gotta pull him away from his You-tube videos and get him back to watching his sports, lol. Hope you have a good week-end!
Sincerely, Rose

I heard he was from your area.  How cool is that?  Your Dad and his Grandpa will have some serious talking to do.  Maybe get you a signed jersey?  Would you wear a Hawks one?

Congrats to Patrick, his friends and family. Believe it or not, Black Hawk hockey is not televised here. It was the decision of the owners that if it were to be televised, people would not buy tickets. Needless to say that decision made a lot of fans angry.
I will watch for acknowledgement of his play on the news. That is cool. I hope he has a very good carreer here.
