~ Last One, Promise ~

                         DsDesignsOceanView-1.gif

Oh don't get all excited, just mean last entry for the night.  I had a few other entries I wanted to get up but I had promised these last night and didn't want to not do it.  Things got a little hectic after the hockey game.  I ran off to my parents for a luscious turkey dinner.  All the trimmings and a good portion of the family.  It was wonderful.  I ate waaaaaaaay too much but it was great!!

The girl on the shore was a picture that grabbed me immediately.  How I love the ocean breeze blowing through my hair, the salt air tickling my nose,  the clean clean air.  Always makes me think.  Either remembering something from the past or contemplating things in general.  I've been thinking about a few things and didn't know exactly how to put it up on here.   I don't want it to appear as though I am pointing at someone specific, and maybe I just don't get the whole thing.  Maybe after 2 years of doing a journal things have changed.  Maybe some help?  Is there such a thing as journal etiquette?

When I started out you read journals, left your link in a comment and hoped folks stopped by.  Hoped they liked what they saw/read and came back.   Folks would pimp others to lead them to a new journal, an interesting entry, and it went from there.  It was a way of being noticed.  It use to be I got comments from folks who snagged my graphics with their links.  Now they just visit the minute the alert goes out.  Look around and leave.  Do they take anything?  I don't know, doesn't really matter.  Just something I've noticed.  I even get a note from one of my site trackers.  It's the same few folks who hit my journal within seconds of me hitting save.  Never saying a word, just dropping in and out within seconds.

Things have changed tho.  Not sure if I missed something or not.  I know when alerts go down many send a note to let others know they've posted.  In the past several weeks I've gotten mass mails from folks to tell me to go to their journal they've posted, asking for comments as they need love or something.  LOL don't we all?  ::grin:: I've even gotten these emails from folks I didn't know.  They just used someone else's mail list to send their notice out.   Now they are coming in form of IM's. I am not talking about those sending notice of a new journal, a new URL, or that they are going private.

Did I miss something?  Is this the way it is suppose to be?  The way we get readers?  I'm not sure how I feel about it.   Sometimes I feel guilty if I don't run right over, if I don't go and say I was there.   I love visiting new journals, finding things of interest.  Yet, lately I've gotten so many of these notices I'm wondering what is happening.  Three emails and two IM's today alone.  At this rate my mailbox will be filled with AOL alerts and personal ones.  Again, not pointing at anyone but.....   Did something change?  Am I the only one getting these?

YIKES!!  The time.  Where did the day go?  Geeeze I need to get some sleep.  The morning dragged, the afternoon stood still for what seemed like 3 days, and then after the final buzzer the day flew.  I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I also hope no one takes my comments above personal in any way, I'm just wondering.

Hugs

~d

Hi..  not sure on the comment thing.  I read alot of journals but I'm pretty quiet.  Sometimes I will leave one sometimes not.. depends on my mood I guess.  As for the emails and IM's that is kinda weird.. lol

LOVE the tags! Awesome, esp the mom and daughter one.
I have gotten lots of emails asking me to come read and comment. Also from strangers or from people i have not heard from in over a year or many months or from J Landers i thought did not like me. Do i go every time? Nope. Do i comment? Not every time. I am forgetful and will put it off or just not do it. I can not say a word about getting emails with huge amts of other screen names showing up since i was the dumbass person who sent out a 80's email and made a half dozen hate me instantly last year---was it last year?! God, who knows anymore.
There are some who will make an entry and tell you to go visit the new person. I have done that many times. Some do that constantly on a daily basis. I barely have time to get thru my current journals and comment.
I am so glad you had a good day with the family and good food! GOOD FOR YOU!
LOVE,lisa

I drop by often, and will confess that I am not a hockey fan, so skip over those parts in your journal, but read the rest of it.  Of course, if it is all hockey, I am in and out quickly, but understand your passion for the sport.  After all, you do have it in the title of your journal.  I do appreciate your snags, and enjoy your work, even if I don't take any.  Seldom comment, but do enjoy your breezy style of writing.  Please keep journaling.  LaVern

Hi Donna, not had the e mails or IM`s that you get...could it be folk wanting to widen their readers sending out collective e mails??? not sure there reasons. I always comment when I visit journals, I usually have the ones that I read when I get the alerts, that takes up time. Do you think they leave links/emails  at you as you have a bigger reader list? Have a great week IM mail free!

I don't always leave a comment as I have so many alerts to read they stop me from writing my own entry sometimes.  lol!  It's my own fault.  I am new to Jland an I find everyone's entries so interesting.  An odd time or two I will snag but I am beginning to realise there are only so many tags you can use at any one time so I bave myself now and resist .  Sometimes I stop and read about your hockey but if it's a long entry I get lost in your telling of it as I am new to that too and don't understand it.  I get the enthusiasm though! And I like watching the videos.  Jeanie

I get the e-mails but not the IM's.  If it's a stranger, most times, I don't visit because I don't have time to visit all my regular journals.  Love the ocean tag.  Love ya, Chris

nice graphics. i dont know what has changed or if you need to flow with the change. I know the alerts being iffy that I have some whom I have on an email list when my j goes up and they asked me to email them when I post. especially since Im so sporatic in my posting. I dont leave a j link for years now simply because if someone wants to visit me then they can just click on my screen name and visit me. Or email and ask me. I dont kow I feel like IM begging for readers and I dont like that. YET I dont mind when others do that. Sometimes I do check out the links or if they dont leave on I just check on the screen name and see if one is listed. I sually leave a comment about graphics just so you know I came and looked BUT I have wondered at tiems shoudl I bother you with the alert if all Im going to say is I likeit or great job . I mean you have to take time to open it and all and maybe I hsould just look and leave. I dont really have a clear black and white or yes or no answer on tihs one.

Donna
I have recieved a couple of the Emails asking me to go and comment in the writer's journals, but have not experienced the IM requests. If this is a new trend, I'm not sure I like it.  I prefer the older method of visiting other's journals and leaving my comment.  They usually repay the visit.  If they find they like what they read, they return.

Gosh D-I don't get alerts like that...I hope I don't almost. I love comments too, but I don't go around "asking" for them either (well in my journal I have b4 lol).

I love your journal, I love your graphics....I love your sports announcing self...How else could I find out about hockey?

Have a great day.

I don't think this entry is about leaving comments here but how others are trying to get comments or readers for their journal.  I don't have a journal but I find reading others to be a great release.  Just think had I not stopped here we wouldn't have gotten to know each other.  I'm sorry but an email or IM for a 'run of the mill' entry sounds like an intrusion to me. If it's important or something they know you'd be interested it's one thing, but from what you write it sounds like it is out of hand.   Don't know the rules, but I wouldn't like that at all.   I do know the rules of mail and if you feel the need to send out mass mail it should be done blind carbon keeping the entire list 'hidden.'  It's not cool to expose others to strangers.  Point in case you mention others using the same list.  Not cool!

I really like the tags you posted.  Very pretty!
I also get emails sometimes. Not all the time. Usually when alerts are down.  I don't understand it either because I will make it to their journal eventually, when alerts go back up or if I visit on my own. Maybe they need immediate satisfaction on their words.  I don't know.

Beautiful tags, Donna. I was afraid to fill my hard drive with all the space that it takes for tags, so think I've only snagged the one with the 3 unicorns. I've got to find a place that will allow me to store, other than my computer. I haven't placed many people's links on my journal, as I'm guilty about not updating. Just way too many things going in this month. As for those pesky emails. I used to get tons of them when I would post in the AOL poetry boards. And many people that I had never heard of would also send me their poems. I would just politely ask them to post them on the message boards, as I most certainly wasn't qualified to judge people's work, other than my own. As for those IM's, lol. I haven't had much luck with them, since we left the AOL service. I think there might be some settings that you need to change in your journal for those alerts, if you can find them. AOL seems to be changing things all the time, and if you don't keep up, then things can get a little busy.

Hi, I just wanted to comment on your graphics and your journal. I don't know that I ever visited before.  I really enjoyed i!  I especially enjoyed the one of the pregnant girl, as my daughter in law is due to have our first grandchild any day.  Also, loved the one with the girl by the ocean. That's me, except I didn't grow up by an ocean but a lake.....so maybe it wasn't as rough or as big, but I loved it and to me it was awesome and beautiful and I still remember my love for it.  You have such a talent and I like your honesty in your journal.  merry1621

Hey Donna, just want you to know, though I don't comment as much as I once did. I do try to visit when I can. I still read and yes snag, lol! I just don't comment as much. Lifes been hectic and I haven't even made an entry in my own journal sense Christmas! Lol! But I have a few jlanders I still like to follow and keep updatd on (you are one of them) and I appreciate all you do!

First, I open many alerts...glance...try to read, then come back when things are not as hectic...right now calm, so I can leave a comment.  Not always though.  I admire your honesty...your openness.  I used to have an enty myself daily, no more.  But anyway...I love your graphics...come to now read about hockey, something you now have me interested in...wow, you have brought me a long way.  Hope you have a wonderful week.  Enjoy...and if I pop over, I will come back, hopefully reading in full, all about your great days, and evenings.  Hugs and love,
Joyce

If I like any of your graphics and I snag them I tend to leave a comment to let you know as it's only courteous to do so!!  I've never had an email alerting me to a new journal or whatever ~ I'd much rather find new journals myself.  Like you said leaving a link when you leave a comment etc.

Jenny

P.s I'm gonna snag the adorable graphic if that's ok xx

Snagged Forever Love it's so pretty...thanks!
Every now and then someone may send me an email...letting me know they have posted.... most the time i don't mind at all, even when my mailbox is overloaded(like now)..lol   Sometimes I have time to check it out, and sometimes I don't...Life is hectic sometimes...we all can relate to that. When I do visit someones journal I do try to comment often to let them know I was there... and do care ~ I miss the way Jland once was.... I still think it is a wonderful place and have met many great friends here... but it has changed in many ways too.

Hugs,
Terri
